You mean the link? Anyway, I just figured it out. Very simple. The center portion of the back of the guide rod doesn't always want to line up where it meets the barrel. Have to wiggle it a bit an make sure they line up.

I just picked up two of these. One is great, the other - it seemed fine when I took it apart but I can't get the barrel bushing back on all the way. Looks like the guide rod is about 1/64th too long or is somehow being prevented from moving aft. Any suggestions.

I think if it is below serial number 800,000 the barrels can't be swapped out easily. Depending on how much a gunsmith would charge, you might be better off getting a separate slug gun.
