What do you YELL in a defensive situation?

"I'm gonna git you sucka!" Joking. Good thread, I've wondered about this quite a bit. Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch endorses "STOPPPPP!", and teaches that more than 1 or 2 words can have a negative effect on motor skill speed. He does make a point that saying at least SOMETHING will...

IMI Timberwolf .357 pump, red dot or irons?

Cool stuff guys, thanks for posting. Glad to hear you stuck with the irons. I understand the utility of a red dot, but I personally loathe the looks of anything electronic on a lever or pump.

    Dry firing a 642

Noooope, good to go! I dry fire the Devil's Wizz out of any modern production centerfire revo I pick up. (meaning I own...would NEVER think of d/f someone else's firearm w/o asking permission)

    SW 380 Bodyguard

Best lightweight 380 option I found. That includes LCP, P3AT, Sig238 I believe in single stack 9s, and carry one daily, but nothing rivals the BG in my eyes for sheer lack of weight and flawless performance. Laser's a bit impractical, however, excepting dryfire practice.

Strobing flashlight as a defensive weapon?

2-3 Seconds - max. JUST did this a few weeks ago on a moonless night in an Advanced Low Light/No Light Handgun course. Instructor had a 700 lumen Malkoff LED and blasted us from 3 yards. None of us were without vision/focus for more than 3 seconds, and nobody felt in the least bit...

    Kahr PM9 vs MK9 recoil?

Agree with Wow, in that PM/CM9 are very mild recoil for what they are. I do have an MK9 as well - my brain is telling me it shoots a bit softer, but I haven't shot them side by side in over a year. You mention 'noticeably less recoil' - I don't recall shooting them side by side and...

How to make cammo colored brass

Might be a good way to color brass to if you're going to make some dummy rounds or snap caps. I'd like to make some, but want the brass to be undoubtedly distinguishable from loaded rounds. Mind shooting a picture for us?

Ruger MKIII Hunter or Comp Tgt - Which ONE?

K folks, need some help because I'm way too indecisive. If price were equal, help me pick between: - Stainless Ruger MK III Hunter - Stainless Ruger MK III Competition Target (slabside) Which one and why? - Favor the aesthetics of the slabside barrel on the Competition Target -...

    I want a .357 lever action but...

Mr Dig, thanks for that link. My 357s have safeties...doesn't really bother me, and they feed better than the non-safety models that have run through my hands, but the saddle ring filler is a nice option.

    I want a .357 lever action but...

If you're a 44 guy, go for it. They're generally cheaper than their 357 counterparts, and more available. Not extremely familiar, but Winchester has a Trapper model in 357 which has a 16" bbl...shorter than the Marlin's -- if you can't find something comparable in 44, that might be the way...

    Ammunition to Go Info Needed

Yes, during the last ammo shortage...they had defensive ammunition when nobody else had it. Likely it was because they raised prices significantly to meet demand - I recall paying near $50 for 50 rounds of Gold Dot...still better than $24 for 20 rounds at Cabelas. Some say they gouged, but...

    22 LR Rounds for "Defense"

Consider a Kel Tec Sub 2000 NutNFancy has a pretty good (albeit long) video on YouTube 'bout 'em. If I'm boxed in to answer your original question... see RCModel's post on page 1 - smart man, that one!

Marlin 1894c or Auto Ordnance M1 Carbine?

Lever - because I'm a pushover for 'em. Also: Ammo flexibility from puffball 38s to Buffalo Bore heavies which exceed many 30-30 loadings (least that's what BB claims) Look for the JM stamp :)

Marlin 1897 22 - Guess You Could Say Desirable?!

Yep, sold for Twenty Two HUNDRED (link) Hooooooooly Smoke!! Basically a Marlin 39A Cowboy, but not some antique that Annie Oakley fondled or something - produced within the last 15 yrs or so - beautiful and cool, but man oh man, some folks wanted it badly.
