I have, it is basically an upsized Hi-Standard .22/.22Mag derringer with the addition of a safety. I sold mine and bought a Ruger LCP which was almost the same size.
I went to one in Denver today, numerous venders with powder (I bought a pound of Red Dot for $25) primers, about $31/1,000, and some .30 carbine ammo. Best show in a long time.
I like the Ruger "Bisley" so well, I've got 8 of them. 2 "Big' vaqueros in .45Colt, 2 in .357, 2 "New" vaqueros in .357, a single six in .22, and an Old Army with a conversion cylinder. I compete in SASS with the vaqueros.
The HK4 is not a polymer gun, other than the grips. That would come about with the P9/P9S which utilized a good amount of polymer in the frame. The frame of the HK4 is alloy.
I believe the H&K VP70 pre dated the P9s.
