My recent Etsy primer trap works well when depriming. A used CPAC hose fits up nicely to the provided nipple, and a few nuts taped for weight to the end of the hose keeps it in the capture bucket. FAR less mess.
Receiver arrived today. I was bit surprised to see this is not a pristine new item; it has mounting marks from the trigger guard, drag marks from the safety, and a few small dings from metal-on-metal contact at the rear from an upper housing slamming shut. Still, I re-read the original GunBroker...
A while back, an acquaintance had an older custom bolt gun in 260 from his grandfather. Scary gun; pull the trigger and the gun would take 5-8 seconds for the sear to drop, or it might take another 8-10 seconds. Scary. Turns out Granddad regularly sprayed the trigger (Sako) assembly with...
Got a K-var parts kit (arrived Weds), and a couple of US-made barrels from Royal Tiger Imports (RTI) due in Monday or so. RTI had some good sale prices last week for an *unissued* kit and new US barrel for under $260. Hard to beat that. Lower is still on its way to my LGS.
I'll try the...
When I last epoxy-bedded something (back in the 90s) I had a can of paste turtle wax I'd had around since the early 80s. Is the new production stuff not suitable?
Got the Vz61 receiver on the way, and just ordered a kvar parts kit. Anyone have experience with US- made barrels for these? I've heard some GB sources have poor quality machining and fit up isn't that good compared to stock Cz made. Anyone have a good experience with a US Made barrel for their...
Putting a few things away in the reloading room, including some 85 grain .308 caliber semi jacketed bullets for my 1905 Mannlicher. They're now properly filed away to wait until Buffalo Arms gets off TDC and turns down some 32-20 cases for my Mannlicher brass. It's been on backorder since July...
My Mini-30 required three things before I could get meaningful results from hand loads. First, I went to a smaller gas port from Accuracy. Then I lapped and torqued the gas block during reassembly. Finally, I had the trigger group lapped/tuned by a guy with experience doing Garand triggers...
Went to the reloading room today to check my notes. My attempts at an M2 Ball clone settled in at a 150 gr FMJ projo on top of 45.1 grains of IMR 4064, in some nice PS (Puson) brass.
I sincerely doubt I've ever been that organized (to the point of no surprises ever).
Happily, as I approach 70, the likelihood of me ever being that organized decreases at a steady declining rate.
Yeah, I've heard that, too. But as I cherished my factory original op-rod, I tended to keep things in the military ball ammo range with IMR 4064 or Varget.
Maybe not very exciting, but certain adequate for an M1 at the High Power Range.
This past December, my neurosurgeon said no more shooting pistols over 9mm. So my 1911 (AMT Hardballer) and Star M45, both in 45 Auto, are gifted to immediate family. I still want to have a 1911a1 with a mil-spec profile. So I'm looking closely at a 5" Garrison. Any other suggestions?
To aid shooters with old eyes that can no longer adjust enough to shoot iron sights. This also prevents an unfair advantage to the scope shooters by allowing only one power.
Used to be scopes of any type were banned from blackpowder hunts to maintain authenticity. Scoped blackpowder guns were...
Depending on how hard your your stones were, that was meant to run for months.
It did look like it was spinning at rock speeds, not brass rpms. But I'm sure it works just fine
