Regarding the lever gun choice, I personally don’t have a use for .45-70, but I’d pick a lever gun (in a different cartridge) over an UZI.

Makes me think of a tax time slowdown. People that got a refund to blow on guns spent it a month or two ago. People that owe money aren’t buying much of anything around April 15th.

If I was dippin my toes to test .22 revolvers for the first time, I’d probably be on the Ruger Super Wrangler bandwagon. They go for about $245 brand new around me.

Due to urban sprawl and family land sold off, I've become a 90% indoor range shooter. Which means handguns and PCCs for the most part. I'm at the point that true rifle shooting appears to be a thing of the past.

I fully agree with regards to a carry gun. With a range shooter, the waste of space doesn't matter to me nearly as much.

I haven't shopped for one in quite some time. My current "equivalent" is a basic Browning Buckmark with red dot.

At 59, I'm not too old, yet. But, I know from working with my co-workers in their 20s, 30s, and 40s that they are stronger, quicker, more agile, don't have joint pain, etc. I have to exercise regularly to keep up with them on the job. So, I'm not going to be defending myself with a tea cup.

I only have significant time with a MKIII 22/45 with bull barrel. I do have some limited time with a standard grip MKII with a taper barrel. The point of the bull barrel in a pistol is mostly for muzzle weight, which can stabilize the gun for many shooters. I never shot either pistol side by...

I've been in that position with a Winchester 37A 12 gauge that was my general bird gun back in the '90s. I had an ammo carrier cuff on the butt stock and I got fast at reloading (and manually cocking the hammer) since the 37A has a very strong ejector. At one point, I turned that gun into a last...

I'd rather have 1911 on speed dial . . . but, I'd make do with whatever I had. Yet, I can tell you that a full capacity autoloading carbine makes me feel a bit more prepared in my house than a bolt gun or lever gun does.

Same here. I mean, .22LR happens to have “rifle” in the name of that particular cartridge. ;)

I only have one. A Springfield Armory Range Officer Target in 9mm. It runs fine as long as the lube in it doesn’t run dry. It’s the only pistol I have that can’t run dry.
