I'll second TAC and Hornady bullets. I have found great loads (both near max published data) for both their 55gr FMJ and SP that's shoots MOA-ish in many different ARs.

That could work well, I just found some coated 38 rn on my shelf that don't have a crimp groove. I used a taper crimp from my 9mm dies so as to not dig in too much. Mind you, these are loaded very light for 38 and according to my testing notes from a while ago there was no bullet movement on...

Glad you asked, I've looked at those a few times and did some light digging but never got enough to answer my query. I'd guess they would hold up fine with 38 loads, both pistol and rifle, but with full tilt 357 I would be concerned.

You should be fine with the reduced COAL and reduced charge to start your testing. When you seat a bullet deeper you increase pressure with all else being equal. Lowering the charge and working back up is the best way to ensure you find a safe load.

Just wait until you harvest game with your own loads. It just so happens that the first year I hunted with my own loads I yielded a buck that is on the wall. Crazy story to go with it too, but that one shot I will remember forever. Best of luck to you in the draw and hope you get a wall hanger...
