What's the use of 220 grain polymer coated bullets?

I loaded and fired 4 of these heavy bullets in .30-06 and none even hit the cardboard backing of my target at a gun range. My first 2 shots were bullseyes with 110 gr bullets. And this was at 50 yards, not the usual 100 yards at which I shoot the 06. No idea where the bullets went.

    220 Swift Reloader Favorites?

In 9 years of reloading I settled on 55 gr VMAX over 36.5 gr of 4064. I sold my Swift impulsively at a gun show in 2018 and am still sitting on 95 rounds of this load. Wish I could get them to a Swift owner or find another gun myself.

Who said you can't call in Eastern coyotes?

I'm not a big baseball fan but the hat showed that this was a small animal, young enough to fall for the female call in daylight in a suburban neighborhood. I don't know if an older animal would do the same but I'm going to try again before the breeding season ends.

Who said you can't call in Eastern coyotes?

What do they do with the carcasses, Soldier? Just leave them lying there?

Who said you can't call in Eastern coyotes?

In many populated areas like my county you have hunters who call and move on and do this constantly with many different sounds. They educate the animals without ever getting one. Out west you have more coyotes than people by a large factor.

Who said you can't call in Eastern coyotes?

Sitting in my ladder stand in w. PA. at two o'clock on this snowy Friday. Sounded wounded rabbit and woodpecker in distress to no avail. Four minutes after the female coyote call a small, young, dumb male 'yote came trotting down the trail and got himself shot at 40 ft. with a .22. I was 3/4...

    Deer drive should be illegal.

There are obnoxious things that other hunters do to screw up your hunt. Simply walking too close to you when you are on stand is common. One year a guy was sighting in his gun about 100 yds. from me in mid season for buck. I don't see how you can control everyone's bad manners. A deer drive...

    New Reloader Question

Start loading what you like to shoot the most. Learn to do everything right and then add another caliber if you want. It may be too time consuming to load all the calibers you have listed. Remember, you then have to spend time at the range to enjoy your work. I assume you have a full time...

    Groundhog infestation IN TOWN

You got it right. The air rifle is just the thing - quiet, effective and fun. I have killed raccoons, crows, squirrels and chipmunks in my yard and have neighbors close on two sides. If an adult 'chuck doesn't drop dead with the shot he will run back to the burrow to die and the others will...

    scope ring screws

Who sells replacement screws for scope rings? Mine got messed up by the #10 torx wrench I was using to remove them. Guess they were of poor quality. I carefully miked the dimensions and am hoping someone sells them on line without charging the cost of a new set of rings. Kwiksite is the name...

    light 9mm loads mystery

So a lubed bullet will always be faster than a plated or fmj all else being equal?

    Glocks and Lead

I've shot lots of lead in my G19. The barrel gets a thorough cleaning afterwards using the copper brush. On the subject of the guppy belly, my Lee resizer always takes it out and I have never lost a cartridge for that reason alone.

    light 9mm loads mystery

Loaded 3.8gr Win231 behind a 100gr truncated cone flat point cast bullet to have some light loads to shoot from a light gun - Keltec PF-9. They were a dream to shoot with little recoil and very accurate. All cycled perfectly with this minimum listed load. Used same charge of powder behind a...

    Keltec P3AT fte

I've made up at least a half dozen loads for my Keltec .380 and have always had good results feeding and ejecting until yesterday. My load is 100 gr Berry's plated bullets with 2.9 gr Titegroup. This load is hot, maybe too hot. I had numerous fte's. Does this happen more often with hot...

    install gas checks

I still don't know how to install a gas check. Does it require a separate die or do you hold it under the bullet when you seat it?

    install gas checks

Due to unavailability of .308 fmj I am thinking of using cast lead through my M-1 if I can find enough at the right price. How do you install a gas check? Do I use the sizing die or is a new die required? I have been reloading jacketed for the M-1 and a Win Mod 54 in .30-06 for several years...

    .30-06 Milsurp not reloadable?

.30-06 Milsurp not reloadable I went out to the curb and retrieved my troublesome Milsurp brass just ahead of the recycle truck. Thanks for all the encouragement on this thread. By this PM I should have snapped all my extra decapping pins and stripped the threads on the collet nut. Then I...

    .30-06 Milsurp not reloadable?

Lugged so much brass home from the range I thought my days of buying empties was over -until the depriming started. When full length resizing my depriming pin kept being pushed up through the pinch nut that couldn't hold it no matter how hard it was tightened. When I ran a few once-fired Win...

    Do you like your LCP?

So easy to conceal it's never left at home even in summer with shorts and t-shirt. The gun is well made and Ruger customer service is very good. Can you afford enough ammo to get good with it? I reload .380 since I also have the Kel-Tek P3AT. It's good too.
