I checked some of the most demand cartridges like .223 and 45 colt and just above the add to cart button it says, Available on backorder. But a big percentage of the ammo says nothing about being out of stock. I couldn't figure out a way to search for cap and ball stuff to see if they had any...
Was driving through a small town this past Saturday and noticed an old hardware store that had a small sign in the window telling about a out of business sale. But it was the week before. I saw that there was someone in the store so I stopped and went in to see if there might be anything left...
Shot my new Uberti 1860 today. fouled up at just 6 shots. Couldn't cock it again. (Testing first with no lube in gun like I shoot my colts).
First Reason is the hand spring. Uberti makes it waaaay to stiff for its purpose. Being to stiff holds the cylinder ahead hard against barrel...
Bought a 1860 yesterday at a local gun store. It is new in unopened box but has been sitting in his shop for awhile he said. $210.00 plus he gave me a box of 100 balls and one tin of rem #10 caps to go with it.
I was wondering about getting a shoulder stock for it. Does any one use one much...
Does anyone know what brand makes their brass the proper size for the colt 45? (.480" outside dia.)
I have new Remington cases but they are under size dia. they are .478 outside dia. next to rim and taper to .457 at open end. they should be a straight case at .480" dia. they wont seal in...
I got out my holster for my 51 and see that anything that was flat is now curling up some. all leather is .165" thick with lining every where. the lining is about 1/16" thick with shinny side out.
I think the lining has shrunk which probably is the cause of the curling.
how would one go about...
i have recently figured out how to set up and properly adjust this gun to work flawlessly over and over again. learned colts method of keeping caps from coming off or jamming.
I decided to ignore all that has been written in articles and on Internet sites for 99% of it is just hear say or just...
cut block for nipple to sit into. made mine from a chunk of 4130 chrome moly steel in the milling machine.
place nipple into block with flash hole up. set a 3/16" to 1/4" bearing ball on flash hole and put in hyd, press. i went from .026" to .022". didn't seem to distort threads enough to...
I have just got out my 1851 colt to shoot it again. been many years since I last used it. (late 70's)
Low and behold can't use it.
The new caps they make now days won't clear the frame. Tried cci and remington. 10's or 11's. Normally takes no. 10 caps.
Seems the newer caps have more powder...
Does anyone know where to buy a good nipple wrench for a 1862 pocket police colt uberti replica?
Pretty small outer dia.. The Dixie gun works has one listed but it seems at least two customers had them break right away. Said they are to brittle.
I had one when I bought the gun but can't...
For those that always end up with caps that fit loose on you revolver nipples I am showing an easy way to cure the problem.
Make a percussion cap crimper.
Some time in the early 70's I made one just for percussion caps from a couple pieces of 14 ga. cold rolled sheetmetal.
The crimper has a...
I have a 1851 colt navy first model second generation that has the serial number 48xx with a "O" under it. I know they used a "C" but this one is definitly an O. Stamped deep and clear. Is this just a stamping error? Or did the O have a meaning?
This gun was bought in 1971. Very tight well...
Anyone know if the bullet dia. in the Winchester 45 colt cowboy action loads off the shelf is .454 or .452 like a lot of the newer guns seem to use? Doesn't say on the box.
I shoot 2nd and 3rd gen. colts and need the .454 and was wondering. I know they used to load lead bullets with the .454...
I have never shot at a range. I have wondered how they measure the small groups like .200" in benchrest shooting.
How are the targets set up so the holes are clean enough to measure that accurate? And what do they measure with?
I have a 220 swift that shoots groups that measure very...
