Can someone enlighten me on the Makarov pistols?

I'll add another +1 for the Pearce Grip. I was actually thinking of selling my PM since it hurt my hand really badly, I could hardly stand going through 2 mags. My LCR was much more comfortable to shoot. I tried the Pearce Grip with the thought that if it didn't work then I would sell it...

    9mm?

Since your're in Sugar Land, drive over to The Arms Room in League City. You can rent the CZ there, they've had Hi-Powers in the past at least, not sure on the Beretta. It is at least worth giving them a call. They have a deal that for a $25 rental fee (+ their ammo + range time) you can rent...

    O/U or SIde by Side

I'm looking for a similar gun, but long barrel for clays. I'm leaning towards the SxS right now since I think I like the view down the barrels, but haven't shot one. As for brands, take a look at the Yildiz shotguns that Academy imports from Turkey. The wood and craftmanship on them look...

    CZ 75 Police Use?

Agreed, when I bought my first handgun I had never heard of or seen a CZ before. I was impressed by it at first touch, but had to do some internet scrounging to figure out what it was. When I discovered their reputation for durability and accuracy I did wonder why they are not as popular. Oh...

    CZ recoil spring advice

My CZ is hard to rack as well, I can't do it reliably with the overhand method. I rotate the gun 90 degrees (grip to the right) and pinch the slide with the weak hand, thumb on top and index below. Then push forward with the hand holding the gun and pull back with the weak hand pinching the...

    CZ 75 questions

For mags, also keep an eye on CZ's website, sometimes they have them on sale. I grabbed a 3 pack on sale for about $27 a mag. Agree with what has been said, the CZ is built like a tank and is very accurate (9mm and .22 kit, personal experience). For the trigger, they do smooth out...

    Friendly LGS Recommendation- Houston TX

The selection at Collector's is hard to beat, both new and especially rare/vintage guns. The few times I've dropped by the staff has been friendly and helpful. On the south side there is The Arms Room. Gun prices are a bit on the high side, but they have a good staff and the nicest indoor...

    Milsurp Rifle for Hunting/SHTF?

What part of the country are you in and what type of game to you plan to hunt with this rifle? Personally, I wouldn't want to use any of the rifles mentioned for self defense due to their length, low capacity, highly penetrative ammo, and high noise level (not that any gun is quiet without a...

    Holsters for CZ75B

My SP-01 rides in a Simply Rugged Cuda, which handles it very well. Also take a look at FIST, they make a wide variety of holsters for an equally wide variety of guns. I have 2 on the way fora different gun (haven't seen one in person yet).

Which 9mm would you buy and why?

Voted for the CZ since that is what I voted for with my own money. I wouldn't mind a BHP, FN, or P30 either. There isn't really a bad one in the group.

    Looking for first 9mm

I have a CZ and will not hesitate to recommend them. I also recently shot an M&P and, despite being more of a steel & hammer kind of guy, I was pretty impressed with it. Even shooting .40 is was quite pleasant, so I'm sure the 9mm is a nice shooter.

CZ 75 B Polished SS - My new favorite handgun

I do, and it is an excellent handgun. It is everything you like about any CZ but with a decocker, night sights, rail, a little extra weight (a good thing imho), and 18 rnd mags. I use mine as my primary HD gun, range, IDPA, and even some carry. Only real downside to me is that carrying it is...

    CZ 97B Holster?

I have a Simply Rugged Cuda for my SP-01 and am very pleased with it. It might not be what you're looking for and their website doesn't mention the 97, but they might be able to help you out. Also take a look at FIST holsters. They make a very wide variety of leather and kydex holsters...

    cz 75 sp-01 holster

I recently purchased a Simply Rugged Cuda with IWB straps and it handles the heavy gun quite well; impressive build quality too. It's still new, so drawing/reholsteriing is still a bit slow, but that will change. And it smells wonderful.:) I'm also thinking of a FIST 19 in kydex for a...

    the 38 special

shotgunjoel, you're correct. Everyone recommends that you qualify with an auto so that you don't have to go and do it again if you decide to change guns. Some people share, borrow, and rent guns to qualify with if they don't have and auto of their own.

    Pictures: CZ-75 In Digital Camo

I usually don't go for this sort of thing, but that looks really slick. Too bad I would lose it at the range. But then again, you can conceal without having to wear a Hawaiian shirt.;)

CCW: S&W, Ruger revolver vs. Glock 26 or Ruger LCP

They have been making some no-lock versions of the 442 and 642 lately (42 as well I think).

    Ruger LCR...first shooting

Glad to hear it is working for you, and thanks for the review. I've been shopping for a snubby and found the same thing with the triggers when comparing it to a J-frame. The J-frame does have the advantage of being smaller, however.

    CZ SP01 Tactical .40/9mm/.22

.22lr kits pop up pretty frequently on the CZ forum as well. You could always order one for nearly $400 from CZ's website, I think J&G has them as well.
