just got my first Russian TT-33

i never said i wasn't happy with it. i am just looking for advise from those that know more about these things than i do. and thank you for your comments. what you said makes sense. the gun is rather glossy compared to my other Toks. i don't feel that i paid too much for it. i just had...

just got my first Russian TT-33

i understand all that. and i understand that the Tok does not have an "as issued" finish. i still disagree with you on your appraisal regardless of the finish. but how can you tell it has a civilian finish as apposed to a Russian factory re-arsenal finish?

just got my first Russian TT-33

sorry....not trying to toot my own horn here....but a pre War Tula TT-33 with stamps this nice is worth more than $300, regardless of finish. i think you guys have been out of the game for a while. we are not in the 80s anymore. maybe in Canada that's the price......but in the States, a...

just got my first Russian TT-33

thanks for the comments Jim. there is some documentation of 1937 and 1938 TT-33s with plum blued slides. it was a mistake in the re-arsenal process. here is the only link i know of, as the topic is as rare as the guns: https://www.facebook.com/zenitco/posts/990061877724119 when you say...

just got my first Russian TT-33

i just bought this today at my local gun shot. it's a 1940 Tula Tokarev (TT-33). it doesn't have any import mark or import safety switch. i am assuming it is a refurb, as the blueing is excellent. even the barrel is blued......and the blue-job looks "plum" in color. all parts are...

    Awesome M14 pics......Tiger stripes!

well i don't really want to make this thread about what the definition of an "actual M14" is........but my understanding is that it is not an "actual" M14 unless it was a government issued select fire rifle and was made by either Winchester, Springfield, H&R or TRW. LRB makes solid mil spec...

    Awesome M14 pics......Tiger stripes!

Slamfire: man.....your M1 Garand stock would be a perfect candidate for what i did with my stocks. that is a damn fine walnut tiger stripe M1 stock you have. it would look even sexier if it was tiger striped from head to toe. you should consider having LAW483 Enterprises custom match the...

    Awesome M14 pics......Tiger stripes!

    Awesome M14 pics......Tiger stripes!

it is in the wood. you can't really fake "striping". some have tried with putting a flame torch to their stock, but it jut looks like burnt wood. real striping is a holographic illusion that is in the grain of the wood and shifts and moves with the direction of the light. these stock and...

    Awesome M14 pics......Tiger stripes!

thanks. yeah, flame is the right word. stock#1 literally looks like it is on fire! it's my hot rod with flames for sure. the holographic stripes also flicker and move at different angles in the sunlight.

high cap mags and Ban states.......need help/advise

i need some clarity. it is illegal to send an old high capacity AK magazine to New Jersey if it is sent as a "repair parts kit"? it is legal to ship to California in this manor, correct? which ban states accept high cap mags as "kits" and which don't. i have always been confused by this. thanks.
