    Subsonic Ammo inside House

Nah, I know you're right on all counts. Definitely not disputing that in any way. Perhaps 'no good can come of this', I was just still curious as to how effective a room was at absorbing the muzzle boom of a discharged cartridge.

    Subsonic Ammo inside House

I live in the suburbs, with the back of our house up against a big field. This field has a groundhog problem and I'm getting sick of them eating our veggies, etc. The owner of this field has done nothing about it and I'm ready to try something on my end. I do my own reloading, but do not...

Good replacement stock for 700 SPS

I've got a stock Remington 700 SPS (normal barrel) in .308... I like it, but I've read that the stock sucks. It's pretty light, and cheap - and I'd prefer something that was "floated" or "bedded." I don't know if it'll really make a difference because my skill level isn't good enough to...

    Budget .22

I grew up with a Marlin Model 60. Many, many fun summers with it even before I left home, and now I have one of my own. I've put thousands and thousands of rounds through them and think they're great. They may not be as accurate as a heavy-barreled bolt gun, and some people dislike the...

Do you clean pistol primer pockets?

I do. I always thought cleaning the pockets was part of the process, so I've done it for everything. Wasn't even aware that skipping it was an option. So maybe I'll stop.:)

    > 5.56 Stresses on AR Platform

I did some looking for research on this but couldn't find any threads that really got into it - if I missed it I do apologize, everyone on this forum is always super-helpful. Long story short - love my M4, but looking for another flavor. Been considering getting a different caliber upper kit...

    Delton LOWER any good?

I agree. My buddy got a DelTon Lower and an Model 1 Sales varmint kit - seems like a fine rifle. I'm torn between a DSA or a Delton for my next build. I'm of the mindset to save some bucks on the stripped lower and put that into a barrel upgrade.

450 bushmaster or 6.8 Rem for AR build

If you're looking for the thump of a .45 caliber AR platform I'd recommend .458 socom over the .450B as well. Feeding the specialty calibers gets to be expensive, so as long as you're reloading your own ammo, you might as well take advantage of the wide range of bullet weights for the socom...

FC .308 cartridges not "rattling", Winchester Does?

So I loaded up about 100 rounds of .308... 50 of them were Federal (FC) brass, and the other 50 were Winchester. It's somewhat of a "middle of the road" load for .308 using 168SMK's... 44.0gr Varget and CCI BR Primers. I'm excited to shoot them. So anyway, I'm used to the cases "rattling"...

    Another SHTF Thread

I was never really a gun owner until I met my to-be-father-in-law. A career Army guy, he took me shooting for the first time about 5 years ago, and planted the seed for what has now become an obsession with preparing for SHTF situations, reloading, and marksmanship. Understand, this man is a...

AR: 16" Gov't Profile vs 24" HBAR: Load Considerations

So, you're saying that if benchrest shooting / long-range target is the game... a 24" doesn't have enough benefit over a 20"? Can you explain a little more, along with maybe links to data? I'm totally okay with the idea of a 24" - I don't plan on prowling around with this thing, just sitting...

AR: 16" Gov't Profile vs 24" HBAR: Load Considerations

I must have my terminology wrong - I thought HBAR was a generic abbreviation for "Heavy Barrel" or "Bull Barrel." This was the item in question... http://www.model1sales.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=264 I was going to get it with a plain aluminum free float tube...

AR: 16" Gov't Profile vs 24" HBAR: Load Considerations

I currently use an S&W MP15 for fun and zombie defense. I've been kicking around getting a 24" Varmint HBAR 1/8" twist upper for it for some time now from Model 1 Sales... just for benchrest-longrange stuff, and I'd like to get into the 75-grain pills. Right now my 1/9" keeps me around 62gr...

Is this brass ok to reload?

I pick up range brass for my 45acp and have seen dings like that every now and then. The ones that don't resize out are okay. I think as long as you don't see an honest-to-god crease in these dents, you're okay to reload them. I don't take chances with .223 when it comes to dings like that...

Are there any 'good' reloading kits?

I was on a tight budget and I got the Lee Anniversary 4-hole Turret Kit. I was glad that I did. I reload 45acp, .308, and .223, and haven't had any issues with it. I tend to prefer Lee products, though I understand that most people consider them lower-end by comparison to RCBS, Dillon, Lyman...

    45 ACP load

One powder for .45acp that I've gotten hooked on lately, especially for 230FMJ is Clays. Not Universal Clays, but just plain Clays. It's a shotgun and multipurpose powder that I find to be nice and snappy when Loaded to 3.9 or 4.0 grains. I've only ever used Titegroup by comparison, but found...

    Help with Tumbling media.

White Rice I second the bulk white rice. I bought a 20lb bag to tumble 1,000 pcs of FILTHY once-fired .223 I bought, and aside from turning the rice a god-awful shade of soot, it did the job awesome. I also squirted in some "Brasso" for good measure. It left the brass completely clean. Just...

    Best .223 "Social" Projectile, SHTF

I've got an M4, and I'm working on loading up a 1,000 rounds to put in an ammo can and save for SHTF, "Rainy Day" purposes. I know that a lot of people don't consider the M4 a preferred anti-personnel weapon, especially in SHTF situations, but it's what I've got. I've been doing a lot of...

    Self-Defense, Home Usage, Ownership

I was 18, working at a gas station - took some money out of the till and then got caught. Paid all $200 back, have been a stellar citizen for the past 10 years, but still have an M-1 misdemeanor on my record. Only had to pay court costs, but an M-1 misdemeanor carries the potential to have...
