    Spikes Tactical ar

The differences between a Colt and something like BCM are probably almost theoretical. BCM, DD, Noveske, Knights are all pretty 'good to go'. I just like Colt. I think most would agree that, barring certain extremes, the lower isn't very critical. The same is NOT true of a lower parts kit...

    Spikes Tactical ar

If you're more interested in saving a few bucks than in getting something quality from the start, then my writing is useless. Spikes has a warranty because you may well need a warranty. Go search for problems with Spikes. Then go search for problems with Colt. The next best decision would be...

    Spikes Tactical ar

If you've got a K to drop on an AR, then there's no reason not to get a Colt ($945 for a 6920). Then shoot it until a part/accessory is the limiting factor (vs the shooter), and upgrade as needed.

Why is an Olympic AR-15 Bad?

This is surpisingly difficult to convince people of. "Both my buddies bought Bushmasters, totally flawless." [after 200 rounds from the bench on a mild summer day]

Why is an Olympic AR-15 Bad?

I should think that would be obvious. It is not likely anyone would otherwise put ~500 rounds a day for 2-3 consecutive days through their carbine. They would also be doing it outside, in varying weather (hot, cold, rainy, snowy, whatever). Likely amidst some degree of dust/dirt/mud...

Why is an Olympic AR-15 Bad?

If you're buying it for a range toy, what's it matter? Use it and replace things as they break. If it's for defense, is it worth saving a few hundred bucks when your life is on the line? For those touting Olympic rifles: how many of you have run them in training classes?

Surefire forend for 870: change to LED?

http://www.tactical-store.com/ts-fs-za-kxhead.html Literally just take the item in the above link and replace my current bezel?

Surefire forend for 870: change to LED?

I've got the Rem 870 Surefire forend with the standard lamp, but that thing sucks down batteries. I'm wondering if there's a replacement housing for an LED instead of the bulb? I haven't been able to find the answer on the 'net...

    Anyone bought the Ruger M77/357?

I've really been fighting the urge to get one of these. A little 4x scope on top would make a super fun package.

    Savage Axis .223?

I wonder if you could get away with using Tula/Wolf stuff for general plinking? My AR's eat it just fine.

    Marlin 795 99.00

I actually went to go pick one of these up a couple of weeks ago at Dick's, but the only one they had in stock had an over/under-torqued (sights were twisted to one side). Not sure how frequent that is but it put me off a bit.

"TN" guns? And IO? (7.62 AK's...)

Howdy folks- I've had a hankering for a 7.62x39 AK for a while. I'd rather get something less risky than a CAI monkey assembly. I was in my local shop yesterday and saw a very handsome Bulgarian rebuild in 7.62, the maker's mark said something like "TN guns" or "TN Inc.", don't remember...

    General-purpose .308 light rifle

That describes a 'scout rifle' pretty well. I think Bud's has a used Savage scout for sale right, now ~$550 IIRC. There's also the new Ruger scout. A savage edge might work for you since they're cheap as heck, but they've got no irons.

I just cannot warm up to the M&P9 trigger pull.

The APEX stuff is supposed to be a huge increase in quality. I had a stock M&P9 that I couldn't seem to shoot well no matter what. I eventually sold it.

RIA Tactical 1911 (9mm) Range Report.

My RIA 9mm was pleasant to shoot. I liked the trigger and the accuracy. But it had about as many failures to extract as you're reporting (for overall malfs). The extractor doesn't seem quite right on these. Not sure if it's RIA specific, or a side effect of making a gun use a bullet other than...

    help. fnx9 or px4 storm

The reports exist, and they are not uncommon. They are from PDs and training facilities without something to gain or personal attachment to an opinion. If we are talking about a range toy, then who cares? Get what you want and shoot. If it's a defensive piece, the rules change. You might...

    help. fnx9 or px4 storm

How is hearsay from a fanclub forum more valid than hearsay from general forums? And the first is neither; it's one of several reports I've read of PDs abandoning the Storm/Cougar due to failures. My point is that first hand reports are all we have. You can ignore them or deal with them.

Most every report I have read occurred after high round counts in a brief period (like training courses).

I've read too many very ugly reports of PX4 failures to ever get one or recommend one. Reports of trainers, PD's, individuals having to use mallets to 'unjam' the pistol, a consequence of the rotary barrel.
