Yeah Yeah, Wood on AR UPDATE

Even before I posted I was not overly fond of the hand guard. Many of you concurred and it had to go. I've now wrapped the AL tube in Walnut.. MUCH better, better proportions. Yeah for some of you.. it's still wood.. if you don't like, that's fine, it's NOT for you. Don't bother to...

Yeah Yeah most won't like it.. Wood on AR

but, Everybody has plastic of composite on their ARs.. how about something with some nice grain structure. I kept the adjustable stock for various shooters to use. It's Walnut and Oak accents. The walnut us actually pretty light, but not that a 20" bull barrel rifle is going for anything...

    Who shoots M855? and Why?

I don't want to get into "I shoot it because I can" Who here shoots the M855 bullet? Why do you shoot it? Does it have better trajectory? Are you finding it's cheaper??? Other than cause I can. Why is this projectile BETTER than the hundreds of other projectiles out there...

    Broken Ambi Safety on 1911

So we have a couple new 1911ers here. One asked about carry and importance of single sided versus Ambi thumb safeties. One response was. I saw that movie, I remember that quote. Tom is a gun guy. BUT Has anyone ever heard of an ambi safety breaking??? Not wives tails, or stories...

I had realized I had not seen a holster and a knife sheath combo yet. I understand why.. what knife, what gun. The combinations would be dizzying. But since I'm making for me,.. [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] Same gun.. STI 1911.. 9mm Bobbed my me...

    Latest Holster

[/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] retention strap over the top, snap on the side that one can undo with the thumb. [/IMG] Lined. The flash on the camera/ phone picked up streaks not normally visible. It's raining and dark outside so no "in nature" shots.

    Tribute to CraigC

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=743419 The other day CraigC posted pictures of a new holster he made. My buddy admired it, and since I owe him for a lot of other favors he does I took my hand at making one like it. [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG]...

    More Holsters

Last year or so I picked up a Triple K cowboy rig for my Ruger Vaquero in .45 Colt. I didn't expect to be picking up more cowboy shooters so quick, but alas I DID. Even though I wear a 36" waist jeans, the Triple K XL belt was not what you'd call overly large. I had some black leather already...

I picked up a Birds Head

at my local Cabelas. I looked for it there on a fluke, certainly they wouldn't have one. They said it was from Ruger, not a individual trade in. Looks like it might have been in some small gun store stock later to be returned to Ruger. 45 Colt. [/IMG]

    3rd attempt at a Holster

Mostly to experiment. 1) lined 2) perimeter stitching 3) more traditional tooling 4) two tone [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] I thought the flap behind the butt and grip safety would increase comfort. It might restrict access too much. We'll see Spreading the load...

    My 1st holster.

I had received some basic leather tools for Christmas, have been wanting a tanker style holster for a few months. [/IMG] Since there are no real patterns to be had I improvised a bit. The typical tanker has the strap over the grip safety. :( I was going to move that. I had...

when you need one. :) Watching the PBS special last night on the Lewis and Clark Expedition http://www.americaslibrary.gov/aa/lewisandclark/aa_lewisandclark_bears_1.html basically it says.. they would generally require 6- 10 shots with their Kentucky Rifles to down a grizzly...

STI Spartan IV - Firing Pin Stop

A week or so ago there was a discussion about firing pin stops and their desired shape. At that time I mentioned that the stop on my STI had quite a ummmm unique shape to it. I found that the sharp edge on the bottom of the chamfer was coming to an abrupt stop when contacting the...

Added a Gold Bead to my front sight.

The STI Spartan front sight was a bit ummm spartan. My eyes are a bit old. So I heard the gold bead front sights were a hot ticket. Wilson Combat was out of stock on theirs, so was Midway. Michaels had 2mm 14k gold pins, 12 for $4. The have a shank soldered to the ball to hang other beads...

WHo has the Ruger Mark? with threads cut on the taper?

A couple weeks ago someone posted a picture of their Ruger Mark i ii, ? where they turned down the tapered barrel, threaded near the receiver and then attached a suppression style tube. I've done the search, tracked thru this tab, auto loaders and NFA tabs. I can't find it. I was going to...
