Why the resistance to incremental advances?

I guess it doesn't make a heck of a lot of difference to me, but in my case at least, I'm not going to invest several hundred dollars in a gun that five years from now, the only way to find ammo is to load your own. Almost all of my guns, both long guns and handguns, are pretty conventional...

The Official Spring 2005 Knob Creek Thread

I and another THR member will be there. We'll look for you. I'll try to think of something "clever" to identify ourselves to other THR'ers. To start with, how about this - I'm 65 and 6'1", about 200lbs. The other THR'er is about the same age, 5'9", 175?lbs, and we'll have a black-haired 12...

ONE MORE PROGRESSIVE DEBATE! not which is better though

From my FFL and part-time gun smith and reloader.... He has a Dillon 550 and I have a Hornady LnL. We've each used one another's progressive. I would NOT trade him my LnL for his 550, but he would trade in a NY minute, given the opportunity. ;) 'Nuff said 'bout that. :)

Do you still have the gun you learned to shoot with?

Winchester Model 69 Bolt Action .22 .... My dad bought it in 1935 or 36, for the princely sum of $16 (two weeks pay as a gandy dancer on the Rock Island RR). He installed a weighted forestock, a Redfield peepsight, and a sling, and it's still got'em all. He used it to teach my mother, me, my...

    M1 Garand vs. SKS

As the owner of both.... I would agree with alcmaeon - for just dinkin' around, the SKS is my choice (other than a .22LR). For serious shooting, the M1 is the winner, hands down. ;)

A little help in Manitowoc, WI

In case my original post scared away anyone.... I'm looking for folks in the general vicinity of Manitowoc for the purpose of connecting them with my son who is a new teacher at Lincoln H.S. in Manitowoc. He has not been able to locate any shooters/hunters in that area, for purposes of finding...

A little help in Manitowoc, WI

I'm looking for TFL and/or THR members in the vicinity of Manitowoc, WI. I'm also looking for a range or just a place to shoot in the same area.

    Am I The Only One...

Other than perhaps a scope or a recoil pad, almost all my shootin' irons are stock right outta the box!!!

Moving to Southern Wisconsin - Any Info?

How long have you lived in the Phoenix area???? If it's been awhile, you're in for a real climate shock. My son spent nine years in Baton Rouge and then moved to Milwaukee for grad school. BAD NEWS!!!! :uhoh: Besides all the liberals all over the place, he re-discovered cold weather -...

    Illegal Interstate Handgun Sales

Wait a minute.... Strictly federal (no state laws), but I'm reasonably certain that gun owners in adjoining states can legally buy and sell guns to one another without going through an FFL. If the seller was in Montana, it would illegal, but in Washington, Idaho, California, (and Utah? No US...

    Ridiculous Anti-gun misinformation...

Stinky... Take a look at this web site. http://www.guncite.com/journals/senrpt/senrpt.html It's not a prima facie response to the idea of gun control, but it is powerful ammo in your arsenal. ;)

Anyone else buy guns they've never seen in person?

Yep.... it's hard to NOT buy unseen/untouched guns on the Internet. ;) :scrutiny:

    I wanna build a berm....

or some type of shooting backstop. I'm hoping that there are enough engineers on this forum that someone can give me a little guidance. I live in an unincorporated area of my county, on 3 1/2 acres - roughly 400' x 400'. I shoot both handguns and rifles, being able to get a little over 100...

    Savage - Package Guns

I got a Savage 7mm Rem Mag with a Simmons scope on it. Everything worked fine. I eventually put a different scope on it, but the Simmons scope is still doing it's thing on another gun. :D I've been very pleased with the rifle and the scope (as long as it was on the gun). You needn't be...

Reloading .223 resizing problems. Please Help!!!.

MB Since you've gotten all the lube advice you can use, let me just add to Handgunr's suggestion. RCBS makes a nifty little "Stuck Case Remover" that includes a drill bit, tap, and bolt to do all the things he suggests. It's pretty inexpensive ($9?) and it works great. I've used it...

How many cartridges do you load for?

    Hmmmm.... 9mm Mak .380 9mm x 19 .38spcl .357 mag .223 7mm Rem Mag 12 ga 20 ga Wow! That's a bunch for a guy who's only been at this sport for less than six months - if I do say so myself. :D

    Scored die

Stans... I might follow your advice except the die is a Lee die. I wonder if they would be as "charitable" as RCBS. I will try the J-B Bore compound idea and see what happens. Thanks, ya'll. ;)

    Scored die

In the process of removing a stuck case from the de-cap resizing die, I think I must have scored the die inside (don't have a clue how) because all the cases now have little scratches on them. Anybody have any suggestions for polishing the interior of the resizing die or should I just chalk...

    Primer interchangeability question

10-4, my good buddies... You have put my mind at ease. :D Fitz - the info you provided I shall consider a fringe benefit. Although it was not precisely what I was looking for, it certainly is useful information for my future reloading. I surely appreciate your sharing it with me - and...
