Every rifle I own fills a niche for me. They're all very accurate to the point that I get bored just shooting paper.
as far as "my" perfect rifle goes I would have to say it's my Airforce Talon SS (PCP Airgun) in .22. It's quiet, easy to handle, cheap to shoot, and will shoot one hole...
unless the coyote is rabid or has something else wrong with it you won't get close enough with a bat. They're sneaky lil buggers. You probably startled that one as much as he startled you.
as for a .22 goes, a Ruger 10/22 is a nice rifle but if you're going for a coyote make it a head shot...
currently I own two Hi Point pistols. A 9mm and a .40 s&w. I've ran a box of bullets through the 9 sighting it in, playing around and teaching my kids about handguns. Never a problem and it's accurate enough with factory ammo. I've stripped it, cleaned it and put it back together.
