which states are the best and least restrictive for gun ownership?

Sam1911 pretty much said it right about PA. I have a CCW in NY state and wanted one for PA because my daughter and family moved to PA. Sent in an application, a copy of my permit, and the fee, and now I'm good to go (thanks for the info, Sam). Visited PA last month, did some target shooting...

    Need advice on 9mm components

I've been using 5.1 grains of Power Pistol with a 124 gr. Berry's JHP and Hornady 124 gr. JHP. For the 115 gr. Sierra, I've been loading 5.7 gr. of PP. Thinking about giving Bullseye a try next.

    Why CC?

FLIGHT or FIGHT! Years ago, both were an option. Now, neither is. Living in this great paternalistic state with laws upon laws, I was lucky to live in a pro-gun county where my wife and I were issued unrestricted CC permits. We tend to see these permits as health insurance, and will not pull...

finally got citizenship after 11 years

Congratulations on becoming a citizen of the USA. Most of us, here in the US, believe a man is based on his worth as a human being and not on his color or heritage. On what little I know about you, I think that you will be an asset to this country. On to guns..... as an earlier poster...

    Whats your home defense weapon?

Ithaca 37 pump in 12 ga. and a Glock 26. Which one I would use would depend on the situation.

After the stabbings and running down in NYC how can residents defend themselves?

Joeq, you've got that right. I don't even like visiting NYC. I'm happy living in my pro-gun county in upstate NY.

Just bought my first gun, now what do i need with it?

To clarify Geckgo's comment about New York... New York City might be a problem, but the rest of the state has no problem buying ammo mailorder. I've had no problem buying ammo from Cabella's, Natchez SS, or even Cheaper then Dirt. Natchezss.com is one of my favorites. You might want to...

LEE vs RCBS vs Other brand dies

To be honest, I've never used anything but Lee dies so I can't judge the others. I'm happy using Lee and will continue unless the die isn't available.

    Where do you guys...

Mine's in the basement. Very little dust but if it was worse, hello garage!

    *Sigh*, I joined the club....

I've got a Glock 26. Besides adding tritium night sights, I added a cut-out piece of 3M tread tape, that I had in my workshop, to the right side of the grip for better "traction" on hot summer days. I didn't put one on the left side because that side of the pistol is against skin when I'm...

Moving from Unique to Power Pistol

I use 5 grains of PP for my Glock 26 when loading a 124 grain FMJ. 5.2 will give you more horsepower, maybe more than you need. Try both loads and see what works the best.

    blew up my sig...well kinda

suzukisam, I once had a OOB situation but didn't pull the trigger. It was due to the OAL of the cartridge being too long. Are you sure that the cartridge length was short enough for the ogive of the bullet and didn't cram into the rifling? That would cause some serious pressure buildup...

    What's your favorite gun?

Yup, AWO, for a handgun, I love my Glock also. My Marlin 336C, chambered for a .35 Remington, is my favorite rifle, and my Ithaca 37 12ga is my favorite shotgun.

Two Hunting Rifles - Which Calibers?

I have to agree with you, ZK.... the 30-06 will handle the big stuff, and the .223 will do a good job on the small stuff. For me, I'd pick a .308 because I'd never hunt the really big stuff, and, these days, I don't really want the kick from the '06. A .22 mag would be my choice for the second...

    New to reloading

I recommend buying the manual from the bullet maker that you are using. My first was the Lee book. It's a good read and it served me well. I next bought the Hornady manual because I was reloading using Hornady bullets. Next, I purchased the Sierra manual because they have an excellent...

Congresswoman Giffords Shooting: Pro RKBA responses to questions/concerns/accusations

I'm from NY state and went through the gauntlet to get my cc permit. I would be a fool to assume that I am safe because others who have guns went through the same review. Many of the "others" didn't and bought their guns on the street. There were so many great comments on this thread, like...

    Lee Auto Prime Shell Holders

I like the Lee Autoprime but I've never used the RCBS and probably won't because the Lee does the job and I'm happy with it. And Damon555 is right, it won't be a backup for long.

    Hornady Custom-Grade dies

The Lee dies have been very good to me and I recommend staying with them for dies. Hornady makes awesome bullets and I plan on staying with them for bullets. Staying with a company's core competency rings true.

    Danger of shorter OAL?

I have a 9mm and the spec says "Max OAL = 1.169". That's great if the ogive of the bullet complies with the spec. I have hollow points that if I set the cartridge at 1.130" OAL, it jams into the rifling and would cause a significant increase in pressure. I have to make the OAL 1.080 in this...
