My aspirations when it comes to handguns are purely results oriented. Looks, style and sentimentality hold little favor with me. been there, done that with the 1911 and I like them just fine. The results with another flavor pushed me to use and vote for other. :neener:
First choice is the Mossberg but a G22 is my nightstand gun. Wife's is her G26. The 1911 is a fine choice IMO but not for everybody, well trained or not. Definately not the only good choice out there.
Ditto! Although my revolvers may prove more reliable in the long run and time will tell, my G27 and my Glocks in general have proven to be as reliable to this point with a lot more ammo through them. I'm sure there are other makes that offer that type of performance as well. My pockets really...
I carry my CCW weapon, Glock 27. Might not be known as a bear stopper but I sure wouldn't hesitate to use it. I've usually got too much gear on me to carry much else if I'm hiking. Long guns are out. Besides, hiking around here with a 12 ga. would get you in trouble with the Game Commision or...
I've shot a number of them and I have a friend that has a .44 mag American Derringer. I think he's shot it twice, I won't shoot it. It seems to be more of a conversation piece than anything. .45 Colt, .410 not too bad but .357 kind of hurt a bit. Hard to hit anything past spitting distance.
That is a decision you really have to make for yourself. It's your job and your life. Every company I have ever worked for had a no weapons policy. I'll admit that my wife is the only one who knows I carry a P32 in my right front pocket. Who says mouse guns are worthless?
3 Colts, 2 Kimbers, 2 Springfields, a SW1911 and an AMT. The AMT was the worst of the bunch. The best of the bunch? Kimber Custom, SW1911 and a Colt Officer's that I really miss. The others were hit or miss depending on ammo and mag combo or parts breaking. I think the 1911 is a very sound...
Thats a new one to me too. I do prefer the GP to the L frames but I like the weak old K frames even better. I've sent a couple Ks back to SW and one did have a cracked forcing cone but I had shot the snot out of them with a lot of 125 grainers. Except for a rare parts failure, I'm sure the L...
As long as it isn't really excessive, weight isn't a huge factor to me. The feel is. A good, smooth DA pull on revolver makes me as happy as a nice crisp 4lb trigger on a 1911. The low limit for me is 3.5-4 lbs. And this coming from a Glock fan, go figure.
Is it a G19? If it is you might want to check over at Glocktalk. There seems to be some magazine follower issues and some problems with a redesign due to the NYPD problems.
Yes, the K7 is an IWB and one of my favorites. The 7K is a standard #7 drop front basic made from kydex instead of leather. Any of their leather designs can be made from kydex but they don't have them all listed on their website. They stitch the kydex just like the leather. It works out very well.
I've been on both sides with the 1911. I've had a couple that were very reliable and a few that would make me pull my hair out, grit my teeth and curse JMB. I always have a bit of anxiety when I take out a new 1911 for a test run. I can't say I ever feel that way with anything else.
The CZ and the HP are about the best feeling to me. The full size Glock and 1911 with an arched MSH are close though. All my 1911s have had long triggers and arched MSH. I had to add one or the other though.
The Fist 7K is my favorite. It is a leather belt slide design that is made from thin kydex. They are actually stitched like leather holsters. Not quite as fast as my UM, G-Code or Blade Tech but they conceal much better.
Wasn't it Jim Cirillo that stated he could see the serrations on his revolvers front sight during shootouts? I like tritium on the front sight, not real partial to rear dots but I have them on some guns. They do help in low light but I'd take a good flashlight over them anyday.
I might be wrong but I thought the arched MSH was incorporated because the army thought the flat MSH pointed too low. Not sure, just thought I read that somewhere. I prefer arched myself and the Glock always similar to revolvers. It is similar to my K frames with Pachy grippers on them.
The only problems I've seen and heard of were XD 40s. Both would nose dive on the feed ramp. The slide had to be locked back and the magazine pulled from the gun. Another maybe 1/2 dozen .40s that I've shot, worked perfectly. I wish I could say what the outcome was with the 2 problem pistols but...
I agree with most of what everyone says. I think they are really decent pistols. I've fired about a dozen examples and most were great shooters but the trigger has never impressed me at all. They have all been pretty mushy feeling to me. The trigger reach itself is a bit too short for my hand...
