The Hi-Power is one of the classic, easy to conceal carry guns!!! The short grip is great and you still get 15 rounds with modern mags. Carry it IWB and the long slide no longer matters.
On a serious note, the Georgia Arms 240 grain 44 Magnum @1,000 FPS is very sedate and easy to shoot out of an N-Frame revolver. There is no "sting" in the recoil at all and offers very fast shot to shot recovery.
The .429 diameter allows for extra speed that the big, fat, and slow 45 cannot achieve. 45 is so slow that you can see it fly through the air. It barely makes it to the target; I'm surprised most 45 shooters don't lob their grounds under the NRA B-27 target! Maybe they're just bouncing the...
When one has 44? Why would anyone bother with a tiny and dainty round like 357? It's just sad to see grown American men choose to use a Europellet caliber called 357 Little Momentum.
Here's a 629 Deluxe 3". It's everything you need in a CCW revolver.
Here's a 24-3.
I'll be a bit different and choose Ruger Blackhawk Convertible in 45 Colt/45 Auto with 5 1/2" barrel. I am not a fan of 10mm in revolvers when the Glock 20 and 15 or 17 round magazines are available. I'd rather go actual big bore and shoot some really heavy loads in 45 Colt and have...
You likely need to learn recoil management, which means you likely need to learn to actually shoot. My guess is that your gun is not the problem and your training is the actual problem. This could only be confirmed on the range spending time with you analyzing what you are doing. Given that I...
Make it a Glock 20 or 29 with Buffalo Bore or Underwood ammo and you're in 357 Magnum territory with the capacity of the semiauto and magazines to reload with.
So 9x19mm is good for bear and moose?
This is why I choose a battery for carry. 9x19mm covers 90% of all my carry needs in an urban environment. 380 Auto covers the rest. But, for hiking, I much prefer a magnum cartridge (or hot 10mm that duplicates a deep penetrating 357 Magnum load). I...
I created a "Saved Search" and notification on Gunbroker for S&W Model 19, with 357 Magnum as filters, and "Used" or "Old Stock". Generally, I'd see two or three guns per week or month, depending, and managed to find a nearly mint gun built in the 1970's. Just save up your cash in an account...
Bah, don't be short with them.
I find this rather simple to deal with: Tell them what we learn in class:
1) Carry your most reliable gun that you can shoot reasonably well
2) Carry it fully loaded
3) Use a good holster (list the attributes of one)
4) Carry at least one full reload
5) Buy a...
Too front heavy. I really, really tried to like my Redhawk, but just couldn't warm up to it. Off it went to a friend who used it as his trail gun while four wheeling.
We all have our biases. I would be fine with my S&W Model 19 4" for most carry needs if semiautos were ever banned or I couldn't operate one for some reason. I had Herrett's Stocks build the Jordan Trooper boot grips to my hand. Unfortunately, they went out of business soon after. My only...
