    Poll: CCW for a lady: .32 H&R, .32 Auto, or .22 WMR?

normh3 I agree on both points: gun dealers may not be patient and ranges can be overwhelming. Finding the perfect fit is not an easy journey. I thought my Kahr .45 was the end of my quest until I was introduced to the Smith and Wesson model 638, .38 and +P. Now it's my main carry with my...

*sigh* Rossi, I'm done with you. (brand disappointment)

I've had a Rossi .38/.357, 2 1/2 barrel rubber grips since 1986-and I still have it and love firing it. I found it accurate as well. Heavy, for a snub but very reliable. Now my carry all the time is a Smith and Wesson Model 638 .38 and +P. That has become my perfect fit with the Kahr .380...

    Poll: CCW for a lady: .32 H&R, .32 Auto, or .22 WMR?

One thing I hate, men counseling women on firearms as if they were some big protector who thinks a woman cannot make a decision on her own. A personal firearm for defense purposes has to feel comfortable while carrying, is comfortable firing, satisfies cleaning requirements and meets a personal...

How expensive is your carry gun?

S&W 638 which shoots .38 and +P I basically found the perfect carry firearm in the S&W 638. Loaded with +P, and being a revolver, I feel quite confident in this self defense weapon. Yes, it is a 5 shot- but my CPL class instructor stated that a maximum of three shots is the statistical norm...

    S&w 638

Range experience I did get to shoot my new S&W 638-with 100 rounds of .38 and 25 +P at 10 yards. The experience was flawless. This revolver is surprisingly comfortable to shoot. I went to the Rose Lake range and I will try it out also at a private range to practice rapid fire; Rose Lake...

Hi Jim K Your example again demonstrates how lethal a combat knife can be in skilled hands. I emphasize skilled, especially anyone who was trained in commando silent killing techniques. Proper knowledge of anatomy and the right type of knife (not all knives are equal) can be devastating...

More Seniors, Fearing Crime, Flock to Shooting Ranges

Elderly are more vulnerable, thus, with the Boomers increasing in the retired sector, increased protection is needed. However, with concealed carries and armed in the home keep in mind several things: practice at the range a lot with the weapon(s) you carry and clean. Because we are getting...

What is the last gun that you bought?

Just recently the S&W 638 which shoots .38 and +P. It took a lot of reading, research, and comparing. I think this packet wheel is close to "perfect" for concealed carry.

    S&w 638

Jim K I'm glad you brought this up. I stated a perfect situation of handgun deployment against a knife attack. However: A knife attacker who knows what to do will attempt to close the gap to the point where the victim cannot deploy a handgun. If the gap is closed, a handgun is useless. This...

    S&w 638

After an extensive search, research and reading I have discovered what one would get to a "perfect" conceal/carry revolver. The S&W 638 is a .38 caliber which also shoots +P. I just got it and I have not tried it at the range yet (been raining a lot!). My plan is to become familiar with it...

    Favorite 45's?

Springfield Champion .45 (extremely reliable in any condition), and the Kahr .45 (also reliable but does not like hollow points. Shoots ball ammo all day long without a hitch). The Springfield Champion is about as reliable as they come. These 2 are my favorites.

I did a half hour ago post a long response to various members because I had time but the site blocked me posting even though I had signed in. A glitch. Now not having any more time I just would like to say that HB 4774 will probably die due to Republican blocking in the Michigan legislature...

DT Guy, Midwest, what do you want me to do? Publish my firearm serial numbers? That's not going to happen. As I SAID before (gosh you are all hard headed) anytime someone has views about better gun safety and better gun laws in the US one is labeled as a "gun grabber." That is not the case...

Anti HB 4774 rally in Lansing, MI

You might... ...want to read this. http://smartgunlaws.org/the-california-model-twenty-years-of-putting-safety-first/ It works. What will it take in the US? Another mass shooting? The changes in California galvanized action there. And, it has saved lives. I'm all for saving lives and...

Anti HB 4774 rally in Lansing, MI

Some comments Yes, I saw that my thread vanished-I did not have a chance to respond to many who commented, but Oh well. I think that the Mom's rally went well. The Million Moms were represented as well. There were a few open carry supporters of Moms one had a T shirt stating gun owner...

Midwest If I wanted a rifle I would get a Weatherby 300 magnum with an excellent scope. I did see one when I was in Kentucky. AR 15 or AKs - I'm not attracted to them. There are a few other high quality rifles I saw there as well. I used to have a .270 in Germany and it was an excellent...

Smalls Extreme stands such as the NRA which will not bend an inch relating to common sense gun legislation could eventually cause a radical move by a US President who could enact an executive order which could severely curtail the Second Amendment. Compromise, bending, and making gun ownership...
