Ruger sp101 hammer spur or not?

I would have to disagree that a SP101 is too big for pocket carry. I'm a lanky fellow, it's hard to hide a cigarette on me, and I carry mine (A DAO 2.25" .357) daily in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster, wearing relaxed fit blue jeans. It is visible sometimes that I have something in my pocket...

A comprehensive beginner's guide to handgun shooting.

Shaky, Frangible projectiles is certainly something I left out. I'm not a big fan of them myself, but what they are and how they work is certainly information that a new shooter should have. Thanks. I'm doing an edit later tonight and will add that in, but in the meantime I have a few...

A comprehensive beginner's guide to handgun shooting.

Noted and edited, Ultravox. The language has been toned down and I have tried to refrain from insulting the reader. Thank you for your input.

A comprehensive beginner's guide to handgun shooting.

I wrote this with the intention that someone who has never handled a firearm before could read this and get a good overview of what is required to safely and effectively shoot a handgun. I tried to cover pretty much everything a total noob needs to know to fire their first magazine and hit the...

Looking for a grip frame for an old model Single Six

Do you know of anyone who makes aftermarket frames for the old model revolvers?

Looking for a grip frame for an old model Single Six

A Ruger old model Single Six with a XR3-RED grip frame came into my shop. the grip frame is broken and needs to be replaced, but for the life of me I cannot find a grip frame for the 'old model' revolvers. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Converted Rolling Block deadly rabbit gun

I am quite jealous of your hunting tool. It sounds like a fun rifle.

A letter to the editor regarding a hunting accident.

My father wrote this letter to the editor of the Hill City Times following his recent hunting excursion. It was published, but unfortunately the HCT doesn't have a website and I don't have a clipping to scan. Here is the text of the letter: Letter to the Editors Christmas Eve 2010 Dear...

Testing out the miniature Coehorn mortars my friend and I made.

Very nice, Pete. We machined the barrels from a solid billet of steel (aside from the trunion, which is simply a cross-pin), so it really couldn't get much more simple. Here are some better pics of my mortar:

Testing out the miniature Coehorn mortars my friend and I made.

Here's some videos from the tests. It was a lot of fun. Made the mortar barrels on my lathe from cold-rolled steel. They are .35 caliber and here we are firing them with pyrodex. Had a little trouble working up a blank load with a good report using the pyrodex, but wrapping a little flour in...

CC holster for Commander 1911 w/rail.

Thanks, after a lot of research I went ahead and ordered a Crossbreed supertuck for him. It's not as fancy-looking as I would have liked, but everywhere I go people are saying it's the most comfortable IWB holster available. I figure it doesn't matter what it looks like if he'll actually wear it.

CC holster for Commander 1911 w/rail.

My father recently got himself a very nice custom-built Caspian 1911. It's a commander length model with an accessory rail. His birthday is coming up and I would like to get him a nice leather CC holster, but I'm having a hard time finding any that will fit the rail. Any suggestions?

Is anyone here into Cowboy Action Shooting in Oregon?

I've never taken part in any cowboy action events, but I would like to check it out and possibly participate. I live in the Portland area and was just wondering if there are any Oregonians here who take part in the SASS shoots. The only website I could find for SASS shooting was...

    Rossi Ranchhand

The only practical use I could see for it is hunting in areas or seasons that do not allow rifles but allow handguns. Other than that, it would be fun to shoot. With that said, I would rather have a 16" carbine with a full stock. It's probably my next purchase, in fact.

I just feel like showing off my rifle.

Thank you, Cosmoline. I was trying to give it a sleek, streamlined look and feel, and I think I succeeded in that regard.

I just feel like showing off my rifle.

http://i.imgur.com/P7rk3.jpg I built it a few years ago on a Montana Rifle Company M1999 action, (a clone of a Winchester pre-64 model 70) with a Shilen barrel and a stock I carved from a blank with rosewood caps and copper and brass inlays. Chambered in .300 win mag to really reach out and...

    Rem 700 308 keyholing at 100 yards......help!

That is very unusual. One possibility is that the scope is simply sighted way too high and the bullets are bouncing off the ground before striking the target. If you were shooting in a rifle tube or indoor range, this is particularly likely. Have the gun bore-sighted or try shooting at 25 yards...

    Brownell magazine tube kits

Since it's a generic replacement kit, it may need to be cut down or drilled for a cross pin to fit, but Brownells has a good return policy, so if you get it and can see that it won't work you should be able to return it and only be out the shipping cost. It looks like Numrich is sold out of...

I had a great teaching opportunity this weekend.

I went camping with a few friends. It was me and my wife, a buddy and his wife and another buddy and his boy of 12. We were in a very isolated spot in the mountains and I took a .22 rifle to plink around with. (A CZ 452, in case anyone was wondering.) Well, the boy had never shot before, his...

Guns Every Enthusiast Should Know About

What, no love for the shotguns? Heh. I would have to add the Remington 1100 and 11-87 shotguns to the list. I have fired a lot of shotguns in my day, and these are simply a pleasure to shoot. I'm taking my 11-87 out to the hills tomorrow to break some clays.
