    Scope for Ruger Mini-14

I like that the Nikon Prostaff has the BDC reticle available. This Bushnell Elite has a similar reticle http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=BH323940BC&src=sim Any knowledge or experience of one being superior to the other? Thanks, GD

    Scope for Ruger Mini-14

Skoro and greyling, thanks for the responses. How is the eye relief on the Weaver scope? The marksmanship shooting has you transitioning from standing to sitting to prone regularly so eye relief becomes a big issue. I'm not stuck on the Leupold, there is a VX-1 on sale locally so it was a...

    Scope for Ruger Mini-14

I'm looking for recommendations for a scope to put on a Ruger Mini-14. It's intended purpose is to be used for the CMP (citizens marksmanship program) and Appleseed shoots, and maybe a prairie dog or two. I'm considering the Leupold VX-1 3-9x40, and would be grateful for any suggestions for...

ROA conversion cylinders I've spent the last couple of days reading up on conversion cylinders for the ROA, I have a 7.5" stainless. I'm trying to find a .45 acp stainless conversion cylinder for it and having no luck. Am I missing something? Any suggestions? I can find it in blued but not...

Bitten by the black powder bug ...

I,m relatively new to BP shooting, only been doing it a few years now. I've been loading BP pistols and letting them sit (in a pistol safe) as much to experiment as anything else. One thing I have learned is proper prepping of the cylinders before loading. I typically clean with WD 40 then oil...

Pedersoli Howdah: To buy, or not to buy?

I've been away form the forum for a while but I picked up a 20X20 on GB last fall with a ball mold and some other accessories for about $500. and have been having a blast with it. I have'nt started casting yet so I've been loading it with OOO buck and #5 shot. An interesting note on top of 50...

Cleaning the ROA without using soap and water ?

I've become a fan of cleaning my black powder shooters with WD-40. I typically shoot triple 7 or pyrodex and it cuts through the residue left by those easily. I then wipe them down. Enjoy your new ROA. G D

    Shot in a Revolver

What about rolling a heavier paper (as apposed to a rolling paper, like we use for paper cartridges) and filling it with shot. Load powder, wad, paper cylinder with shot, then over shot card? I'ld try it but the only local place that sells shot sells it in 25 lbs. bags. GD

.31 cal percussion pocket remington listed in Trading Post

OK, a little self promotion. I've come across a new black Powder shooter that I want and need to justify it somehow. The pocket pistol is the one I shoot the least, so I'm listing it for sale. It's a good shooter and fun. If you have any questions PM me. Thanks, GD

Conversion Cylinder Loads. What do YOU shoot?

I don't have a conversion cylinder yet... But I've been looking at the threads for a while, when you are measuring smokeless powder for reloading are you doing it by weight or volume? Thanks, G D

    Bp multi ball loads

I've been following this thread with interest. I've only been shooting BP for a couple of years now and only have pistols. Has anyone developed double ball loads for a .44 Remmy or a ROA? Or suggestions on how to safely work up multi ball loads for them. Thanks, G D

Black MZ - New Alliant Powder Coming!

Has any one tried this yet? Our local Scheels isn't stocking it yet. Cabela's has it on their web site, on sale 29.?? per pound but you have to pay the hasmat fee. They are not carrying it in our local store and I don't want to buy multiple pounds at once until I'm sure I like it. So, If...

Just Arrived After reading many of your comments and suggestion I found this 71/2 in. ROA on Gunbroker, While I was waiting for it to come I ordered the Hogue grip from Midway as I expect this to be a shooter. After snapping a couple of pics of it with the original grips it only took about 5...

I dont know where to start?

usmc-1, Thats a good price for a Brass frame. As a starter it might not be bad as a plinker but threads on this sight repeatedly remind us that the Brass frames will become deformed if heavier loads are shot out of them, keep that in mind when concidering the type of shooting you will be doing...

Ruger Old Army, SS or Blued?

Thank you all for your responses. It's helped me get a better idea of what I want. I like Clemberts suggestion best, get a couple of Stainless Steel ROA's then get a blued one! Ideally for me I'ld go for a SS 51/2 inch Barrel with adjustable sights. But since they didn't come from the factory...
