Has anyone ever done a gun "buy back?"

Some of us don’t use “three letter acronyms” as much as others. So, if it is at all possible, please define them in the first usage to help us old guys. PLS define TLA's LOL Thanks, Dean

    Shame shame dirty ram rod

I've forgotten ammo a time or two, but my best "brain *&%#" was grabbing my 30-30 instead of my 22 (matched set) to grouse hunting. Dean

    New vs old

I have two Marlin 39A's. They are 31 years apart. 1950 and 1981. WOW what a difference. 1950 has better wood and the action is as smooth as a baby's butt. I don't shoot it much because I shot the newer one a lot and got very used to it before I got the older one. So, I can honestly say I like...

    Secretive about guns, ammo, etc.?

I have a neighbor that has a "Protected by Smith and Wesson" sign on his drive by the road and a deer decoy and two targets at the end near his house. I don't think he has a problem with people knowing. I don't have problem with people knowing. As a matter of fact, that might be a signal to...

    Rifle shooting without sights

I used to "point shoot" my 22 Lever out to about 30-40 yds. with fairly good accuracy. My son and I would swap shots with my son on a pop can and keep it moving. He was accurate too. Dean

What a FFL dealer told me about the buying tendencies of older shooters...

I too was born in 1949. Awhile back I ran into an old 39A and didn't think much of it since I already had a 39A that I bought back in the 80's. Well, when I saw it was Mfg'd. in 1950, I snapped it up. Sure is a difference in comparing the two. Boy have times changed things. Anyway, I bought it...

    Parkland shooting; Why Meadow Died.

Thanks Charlie H. It looks like the overall crime rate went up based on the links. It did say that murder went down but burglary was up. I would guess that criminals were breaking in and looking for guns to steal. I still like the idea of arming every household. Dean

    Parkland shooting; Why Meadow Died.

I recall hearing of a town somewhere in the midwest or south that did the reverse of "gun free". They made it a law that all people over a certain age were required to have a gun and know how to safely use it. The crime rate in that town drifted to near zero in a very short time. Can anyone here...

Mullen wrote "I spent my entire professional life taking up arms in defense of our country,". I would think that he was talking of a defense rifle not an assault rifle in his article. Dean
