I carry mine with a round chambered and the hammer at half cock. My main concern has been with the hammer getting snagged and falling with enough force to drive the firing pin all the way forward. If it indeed does have a firing pin block, then I'll start carrying with the hammer down.
I got outed by mom at the dinner table yesterday. "You know, metallic carries a gun 24/7" :banghead: And this was surrounded by people that barely know me (step-grandmother's very large extended family)
Girlfriend found out about 3 weeks into the relationship when her son rammed into my 1911 at dinner with his head :what:. But she was cool with it, told me that she feels a lot safer around me knowing that I carry. In fact, she kinda patted me down when I came over today and gave me a...
It's mostly just a safety issue. If you want to carry in condition 2, you're going to have to pull the trigger and then lower the hammer on a loaded chamber. One mishap and you're potentially going to have a new hole in the floor. Much safer to simply rack the slide, flip the safety up, and then...
I have a relatively large one on my shoulder blade that is non firearm related. I also happen to be a white collar worker (software developer). Just make sure that it's somewhere that isn't visible and it won't be an issue career wise.
Check the laws in Missouri. In Louisiana, you can use deadly force to stop forced or attempted forced entry into an occupied private dwelling or place of business. Whether or not you choose to use it is based on the circumstances and your own morals on when you are willing to take another human...

It would be interesting to see who posted with hostile responses. That way I know exactly which businesses to avoid the next time I come to visit Arizona. Lovely state, truly wish I could relocate.
I'd either politely refuse to answer his questions or turn it around and start asking HIM questions that go beyond the doctor/patient relationship that make him uncomfortable. Hopefully he would get the idea and stop asking others as well.
Like others have said, they're still a potential threat. My goal is to maintain my distance until law enforcement and the paramedics get there. To that end, I feel my only responsibility would be to call 911 and ask them to send help.
I just consider it a badge of pride. It shows that your weapon actually gets used, unlike a safe queen. That said, my 1911 started showing wear after a couple of months in a kydex holster. It bugged me at first, then I got used to it. I can always get it refinished later.
I'm having a hard time keeping any of my guns fed. I'm going to the range tomorrow with 100 rounds of .45, 50 rounds of 9mm and 50 rounds of .380. That constitutes the majority of my ammunition stash :( Guess it's time to get into reloading, but I don't have any kind of space suitable for...
