    Suppressed 1911 blow back?

Another thing to try is a square bottomed firing pin retainer. That generally slows the unlock and softens the felt recoil.

80% lowers, mini mills & getting set up

One small correction. The spindle bores on these are either the R8 (everybody but Grizzly) or Morse #3 taper (Grizzly). The R8 tooling will be more useable if you upgrade to a larger machine in the future, both are adequate for a machine of this size and power.

    Scope mount for RWS-34

Check pyramid air for all things air (and spring and CO2...) powered. Keep in mind that the same scope you put on your high powered deer rifle will likely fail in less than 100 shots on a a spring-piston air rifle, due to the back and forth recoil. Make sure your scope is rated for a...

    Non lead pellets

Another problem with non-lead is with a spring piston or nitro piston design. Without enough weight for resistance the guns actually incurs damage. The pellet helps slow the piston down, too light a pellet allows the piston to slam into the end of the chamber.

Good luck. I'm not from Sullivan County, but do live in Pittsfield, NH.

    Holster / knife sheath

What might be more practical, at least for those where open carry is still forbidden, might be a tuckable or other IWB with the knife sheath attached to one of the clips. It would help to break up any printing that might happen.

Sonic Robbed Same Day Gun Ban Announced

I realize that correlation is not causation. That being said, with a long enough history of correlation you can reliably predict the outcome of certain decisions, such as the number of shootings (or robberies)that take place in places that are posted against legal carry of defensive firearms...

Out of state purchases from Mass LTC holders

Depending on where in Mass you live, there's also State Line Guns in Mason, NH. They have all of their firearms marked as to whether they are Mass legal or not, so should be familiar with your limitations.

    Cheapest AR barrel?

It's a poorly made Fiat copy, and if you remember the Fiats from the 70's you would realize that's saying something. That being said, I have a soft spot for those Fiats, but I understand the shortcomings.

    Circuit Judge Classification

No, he had it right. The rifled tube is straight to counteract the twist, while the smooth tube is just there to protect the threads. It's the same with the .45LC/.410 barrel for the Contender handgun barrel.

    Hunting Pellet Recommendations

More important than the design of the pellet, especially with the limited power from an air rifle, is how well your particular rifle shoots them at the ranges you'll be shooting. It may toss the match wadcutters into one hole at ten meters, but turn into a shotgun at fifteen. And you can't just...

What firearm ignorance have you encountered lately?

Except that sheet (counterintuitively) refers to the ropes, not the fabric of the sails. So that would be referring to a sail that was no longer secured properly, kind of like a drunken sailor.

    Advice on 1911 Impulse Buy.

A 1911 is easy to detail strip with no tool except those provided by the gun and one .45 ACP cartridge, assuming it's not tightened up to match grade specs. This would include removing the grips, John Browning designed the grip screws to be removed with the rim of the cartridge and the bottom...

NJ and CA for sure, not sure about others.

    Remington Model 12

Check to see if the chamber has been peened by the firing pin. Most old .22s were not designed for dry firing, but it did happen anyway.

    Ruger, hear my prayers!

While we're sending prayer to the gun manufacturers, can we send one to Marlin? I wish they would bring back the camp carbines, but make the mag wells interchangeable so you can match your carbine to your sidearm. Should be simple enough to do with injection molding.

We all make jokes about tragic boating accidents

And what about handgun mags Since the majority of modern semi-auto handguns have a standard magazine capacity of more than 10 rounds, even assuming 1 per firearm (handgun or long gun) there should be a much higher number of mags registered than "assault rifles".

What to look for when using peep sights?

Just look for the post, your eye should automatically center on the peep. All you should see of the peep is a fuzzy ring.

    AR barrel hints? help please

Then avoid chrome lined, that is to reduce maintenance/corrosion. Probably look for a stainless match grade barrel from any of the big name barrel makers (Douglas, lilja (sp?), etc), in a heavier profile rather than lighter. Just my .02.
