US Army buys 17,000 rifles from China

The problem I have with this transaction is that Poly Technologies is a criminal enterprise, an un-indicted co-conspirator to gun-running for gang-bangers in the USA, and worst: is a Friend of Bill Clinton. There's nothing wrong with supplying Iraqis w/M 16A2's, or M-4/s.

Don't want to carry in church ? -- Church Shooting: 8 dead / 4 wounded (merged)

As you can see, there are updates to this story which give significantly different time estimates than those in my original post. Specifically: 1) The shooter went through 22 rounds. 2) Police now say that he consumed a full MINUTE while shooting/reloading 3) Some of the fire seems to...

Don't want to carry in church ? -- Church Shooting: 8 dead / 4 wounded (merged)

The morning paper here in Milwaukee now states that it took "one minute" for the shooter to go through 22 rounds and a reload. I don't know how they came up with "one minute," but that means that a well-trained CCW holder could have prevented approximately 6 deaths, maybe more.

Here it goes!! The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel begins twisting the truth.

If you intend to be "sensitive" about religion, you'd better think twice before you post.

Don't want to carry in church ? -- Church Shooting: 8 dead / 4 wounded (merged)

Neon, this guy was wacked-out. CCW or not, wackos do what they want. It's reasonably NORMAL people who think twice about pulling out a gun where CCW is legal. Besides, there is such a thing as 'suicide by cop,' where the wacko wants to off himself but doesn't have the guts--so he waves a...

Don't want to carry in church ? -- Church Shooting: 8 dead / 4 wounded (merged)

By the way, he worked for Addecco and was assigned to GE Medical. GEMed has had more than a few strange ducks--about 6-8 months ago, another one was nabbed for some serious criminal activity, as well.

Don't want to carry in church ? -- Church Shooting: 8 dead / 4 wounded (merged)

He had the new magazines, one can conclude. 22 rounds, the last into his head, plus a reload. Semi-aimed fire, as he hit 12 people. That means he ran that table in less than 20 seconds. Still PLENTY of time for a practiced CCW holder to stop him--likely in around 5-6 seconds. How many...

Don't want to carry in church ? -- Church Shooting: 8 dead / 4 wounded (merged)

LATEST UPDATE FROM APUPDATE 7:00 PM 3/13-05 Fifty to 60 people were at the service when it turned into a bloodbath. Ratzmann, a buttoned-down churchgoer known for sharing his homegrown vegetables with his neighbors, walked into the room and fired 22 rounds from a 9mm handgun. He even dropped...

(IL) Tragedy triggers push to let judges pack guns

Well, .45, maybe the "incremental" approach will work. I will say this--it has worked very well for the LeftoWackies. But knowing some of the judges around here, anyway, all that would do is loose another 150 nut-cases with guns...

Don't want to carry in church ? -- Church Shooting: 8 dead / 4 wounded (merged)

I agree that CCW (and a well-trained, armed citizen) could well have prevented the last 5 rounds of fire from the shooter. And that's the argument I will make, loudly, to anyone who will listen. The key, of course, is "well-trained."

(IL) Tragedy triggers push to let judges pack guns

Well, the Atlanta story sort of puts this in better perspective. IIRC, Georgia is a CCW State. IF that is true, then one is hard-pressed to make the case that armed judges will prevent problems. The Chicago shooter was a nut with a grudge, and while it's possible that one or both of his...

Frackin hell, another shooting, 4 dead -WI.

Cracked--while we should have CCW up here, this would have been difficult to stop. See today's posting of same from the JSOnline account (a pretty good one.)

Don't want to carry in church ? -- Church Shooting: 8 dead / 4 wounded (merged)

By the way, at a hotel only about ONE mile from my home, there have been two or three "shots fired" calls in the last two weeks--not really covered by the local press. Seems to be a lot of gunplay going on out there lately--

Don't want to carry in church ? -- Church Shooting: 8 dead / 4 wounded (merged)

I live about four miles from that hotel. This is the largest news event around here for quite a while (outside of the corruption of Wisconsin's election system.) This guy killed/wounded 12 people about as fast as he could pull the trigger--it was all point-blank range. With the exception of...

Man finds state trooper's assault rifle, ammo in road

If the story is accurate, it seems to me that this Trooper had a real trunkload of crap, on top of which sat his notebook computer and rifle. About time for him to clean out that car, eh?

    Moral dilemma - Ruger 10/22

My favorite local gunshop has given up competing with Gander Mountain (and some other, new chain) on long-rifles in common calibers such as .22, .30-06, .270, and shotguns. It's possible that WallyWorld had something to do with their decision as well. They've decided to concentrate on...

Plot thickens regarding Wi hunter incident.

Old Pa--another poster states that the Saiga had a quick-release scope mount--all it takes is a flick of the thumb and the scope is dismounted. I disagree with your thought that magazines 'should have limited capacity' for a couple of reasons. First, the underlying predicate is that...

WI. Deer hunter slaying POLICE REPORT

One of the hunters took a shot at Vang after Vang fired at him. Unfortunately, the hunter missed and was killed by Vang. None of the other members of the party who initially came to the scene were armed--they just showed up to transport a victim. (They were not aware that the victim had been...

    .22LR Pistol Options

I've had a MarkII Stainless Slabside 6 7/8ths for several years. Put a red-dot on top and it's a very, very good shooter; I can do ground squirrels at 10 yards, one shot. NEVER had a feeding problem, but I do have to read the manual every time I field-strip, clean, and re-assemble...
