The act of ditching your CC piece in a car.

Do the transfer out of your CCW holster a block or two away from your final destination. The passenger's seat has a pocket on the back. A couple of coloring books and other kid swag on top of the gun completes the camouflage.

    XD vs XDM and options

XD holsters are easy to find. Though some label their "XD" holster as also "XDm", to narrow top of the slide means fitted Kydex holsters do not hold as well. The XDm has a slightly improved trigger, but I personally prefer the crisper Glock pull and quick reset. You can pick up an "XD...

What is the classic American rifle other than the Model 70

A pump action rifle, like the Remington 760 (7600) will load faster than a lever or bolt action rifle. (I've seen guys fire them so fast you would have thought it was a semi-automatic.)

What is the classic American rifle other than the Model 70

Using that criteria, I would have to say the Ruger 10/22, of which more than 5 million have been made.

Help me understand this Krag Rifle

2000 yards, more than a mile, seems a bit over-optimistic.

Shotgun Question... Would greatly appreciate response

Get a pre-paid Mastercard and wrap it up in a huge box. He can spend it on whatever that way, not be tied to one specific retailer.

Reloading - Having 2nd Thoughts, 3rd Thoughts... COST OF BRASS :(

If you're going to stockpile barter fodder, I would go with cigarettes. When the end of society comes, there are going to be some seriously irritable people out there. However, the niche cartridges you are thinking of stockpiling are not the best rounds to learn reloading on.

    Keltec sub 2000 9mm

I have one that takes S&W59 9mm mags. Changing the magazine catch can convert it to a few others, like Baretta, Kel-Tec, etc. Some people have modified Springfield XD9 mags by cutting a notch in the side as well. (Glock versions are not convertible.) It is fun to shoot, and gets a lot of...

Help me understand this Krag Rifle

I've moved the sights, I didn't understand the significance of the numbers, as they don't make a lot of sense. They run from 1 to 20, and "yards" or even "10 yards" seemed too short for a battle rifle, and using "100 yards per digit" makes the distant measurement (2000 yards) seem crazy as...

Help me understand this Krag Rifle

Thanks. My wife's uncle died suddenly, but apparently used it last year to go deer hunting, as supposedly 3 prior generations had done over the years in Western PA. It is supposed to be from the very early 1900's per the other uncle's recollection. I looked into reloading. I have about...

Help me understand this Krag Rifle

My wife was been given a 30-40 Krag rifle that is supposedly been in the family for 4 generations. I do not understand how to adjust the sights for distance. Can someone explain how the elevation is calibrated? Any ideas on ammunition... Hard to find around here, even online...

    On Fighting Shotguns....

How did a (sticky) thread "on fighting shotguns" get so deep into Castle Doctrine issues?

    In Defense of Mossberg Pumps

The 500 is unlikely to wear out as the major force where the barrel meets the bolt is steel on steel. The aluminum receiver is lighter weight and rust-free in my opinion, which is a plus, not a minus.

Justice officials in "Panic Mode" over failed Gun Program

The CIA deals dope. The ATF sells guns. Move along citizen; nothing to see here.

To "Tac Out" an AK or Not To?

My reference is not to the specific list of items the OP has suggested, none of which sounds unreasonable, if he believes it will aid his realistic intended use of the rifle. However, we have all seen the monstrosities with 10 linear feet of Piccatiny rail, three different aiming systems...

To "Tac Out" an AK or Not To?

The AK is designed to be a simple, rugged fighting rifle. Adding a bunch of mall ninja stuff to them adds weight and decreases reliability. It was made for military use, where killing people at great distances is acceptable conduct. (In civilian life, shooting a burglar that is 300 yards away...

Talk me into/out of a Colt Delta Elite or a Glock 20

How much was ammo at Wally World in late 2008-2010? Didn't matter, cause THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY! Reloading isn't only about cost.

No Guns = No Money: Let's educate the masses.

I don't know... I can only relate my experience of telling one shopkeeper I had a CCW permit and his sign was forcing me to choose unattractive options. He listened, thought about it, and changed his policy once he understood the realities and the financial consequences. He stated the "no...

No Guns = No Money: Let's educate the masses.

Lists of "Gun UN-friendly businesses" will not likely change anyone's mind about this. The natural reaction of anyone when they are attacked is to dig in, and become defensive. Organized boycotts are only effective if the pain of lost sales exceeds the conviction of the owner about the issue...
