    Is a holstered weapon secure?

Specifically on topic, when you pass a weapon to another, it should be verified clear and cold by the passer and the passee, as has already been said. I agree wholeheartedly with that. (I also understand the mentioned 'combat exceptions', when it's more important to shoot than be 'safe', but...

    Is a holstered weapon secure?

Those of you who feel this way: Do not repeat do not volunteer for duty in a combat zone, specifically Operation Iraqi Freedom. You won't last long. You will be sent home with prejudice and most skosh the first time you try to stick a gun in some Colonel's face for 'sweeping' you with...

"You match the description of two burglers..." As reason to request a consent search.

Art, , Just tell us that stop at 120 wasn't last week. :what:

"You match the description of two burglers..." As reason to request a consent search.

Happened to me and my brother once, very long ago. The situation met Preacherman's requirements. Major felony stop procedures for armed robbery suspects. Our bad luck to be in the 'wrong' kind of car with the 'right' number of occupants. After some discussion, we got an apology, an...

Study of California gun law finds blacks most likely to face felony charges

It's not that they don't want to lock up black gun owners. It's that they are hacked off that they aren't grabbing them all to the same degree. :cuss:

"PAPERS PLEASE!" Or, an encounter with a California Sherrif's Deputy.

I'm sure there would be lots of volunteers here to hang on to your 'AAA gang-banger-weapon-of-choice dog-killing concealable six foot forty pound WMD looking' rifles, should any of you choose to exercise that option.

    Stainless blueing?

APW-Cogan can 'black chrome' a stainless gun. It's a similar process and a little less durable than hard-chrome, but more durable than conventional blued steel, according to thier website. This isn't paint, or teflon. The process changes the color of the stainless, as I understand it. Not cheap.

    Anyone own a Sako TRG-22?

Sako rep in this country is Beretta USA. All the TRG accessories are in thier catalog. I'm guessing a bit, but I don't think the TRG-22 front sight will fit the T3, as the barrel profiles are probably different, and I think the TRG FS uses the threaded barrel of the TRG to attach. But I have...

    "Secret" Police

Are these units used for traffic enforcement, or something else? Do they have radar or laser units, etc.? There is a difference in TE philosophy between 'deterrent' type patrol in marked units, vs. 'enforcement' (revenue generating activity) in unmarked units. Funding issues will drive a...

Training w/2 targets/ missing wide, why?

I would guess momentum was pulling your shots. You may not have the gun stopped when you fire. Even at 20 feet, slight errors at the gun are magnified exponentially at the target. You can practice stopping the gun before firing, but I would prefer to adjust my POA to compensate.

    AR15 - why so expensive?

On another front, in the M4 profile, I'd go with M193 as opposed to the green tip M844. Same price, and you get a bit more effective range. The M855 is fine, though. Just my preference. I have both.

    Worth of NIB S&W 19 2 1/2 barrel

I would like more info before I take a swag at a price. Like the age of the gun (the dash # would help, or the first part of the serial #). Also, if it truly is NIB, is this a private transaction or an FFL? Noting that you are in Illinois, and subject to somewhat different requirements than...

    Some men working in Iraq

Could be any number of folks. The only thing you can tell for sure is that they are not 'line' troops. So much for speculation. I might know some of them, by sight at least. I tend to doubt that. Hard to find that many people in one place willing to 'loan' out thier gear for a gag photo...

How to open a gun safe "combination lock"

What halvey said. Methods vary by manufacturer. Some are more extensive than others. Same basic principles, however. Quality electronic pad types are very reliable, I hear, but I don't own one.

    Russia / China joint exercises

To restate what NMshooter said, there is an old saw which I forget the origin of: "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer".

    Coat Pocket Carry

When I have been in that situation, I never let my coat get farther away than the back of my chair, so I guess I would say that my answer to your (three) questions are yes, yes, and no. But this situation always made me a bit apprehensive in any case.

Recommendations for mounting a scope on a AR15 flattop carbine with GI front sight?

ether, 1. Your can raise the mount, as has been suggested. 2. You can get a different gas block without a front sight. 3. You can get a flip-up/down front sight on a new gas block. You can add a flip up/down rear sight to give you some BUIS (back up iron sights). (See #4 below)...

    Whatcha packin'?

I'd need an 'all of the above' plus. Shorty AR. Rem 870. M19. 1911. Plus whatever is left over. Commonly, the AR and the 19.

    What rifle for what region?

This is fun. Three guns would do it all for me, if I had to. 1. Alaska. 2. Africa - plains or bush. Same gun for both. .375 or bigger. (Might take a .338 mag or 8MM to Alaska, though, as there would be lots of longer shots for meat opportunities, while reserving the right of self...

    S\W 357 Mag

The AJA range shows 19-5 made somewhere between July and November of 1985. AUA range came between January of 1986 and July of 1987. Both dates from the Standard Catalog of Smith $ Wesson Second Edition. That's as close as I can come. As I said, for some bucks, S&W can nail it...
