Carrying a long gun in your vehicle in SC

long guns in SC Interestingly, we just had this discussion in a class over the weekend. Before we get to the specifics, IANAL! That being said, after a search of the code of laws and discussion with other officers, my initial reaction stands - there is no prohibition (that we can find)...

Anyone got any Black Friday plans/expectations?

Black Friday USED to be good because, here in SC, guns were tax free! But, alas, apparently not this year. :banghead: Palmetto State Armory had a great sale to go with last year's tax free day. Ed

    Ar-15 Gun Kit Question

not difficult at all USA: i picked up a PSA lower and parts kit a few months ago and managed to put it together in about a half hour - and, I'm not the most mechanically inclined. As someone said, vice grips wrapped with tape will be your friend. In addition to the listed resources, check...

    Right to defend your home?

more information is being released There's not much I can add that hasn't been addressed by Sam1911 and 9mm, but more information is being released... including the video shot while the raid was happening. (found on cnn.com) Interesting points from watching the video... first, it is broad...

    Gun rights/law

Isn't that Eliot Spitzer? If so, he was - technically - in Law Enforcement as the attorney general for NY State. Of course, that was before he was kicked out of the Governor's office for patronizing high-price prostitutes. I guess that counts as "being in" law enforcement, but somehow...

Not Giving Up Your Gun Policy

As I recall from the academy (lo, those many years ago), yes.. it was common practice prior to the Campbell-Hettinger kidnapping and murder to "do what was necessary to defuse the situation". Hettinger took a lot of heat for his actions. Eventually, LAPD policy was changed to provide better...

    whats considered home?

As everyone has said, it depends on your state. For grins, I thought I'd quote SC definition of a "vehicle" as it applies to the "Protection of Persons and Property Act" (16-11-430(4)) "Vehicle means a conveyance of any kind, whether or not motorized, which is designed to transport people or...

Your Issued Firearm (Military and LE)

LEO originally issued - a long time ago - S&W model 10. We could carry a .357 as long as we had .38 ammo in it. So, I swapped to a 681 (still have it). Now? FN FNP-40. Not too bad. Personally owned 870 for the shotgun. Chief is evaluating patrol rifles now...

    How Many Dumptruck Loads?

couple of options I just added a berm to my property and had a dozer and backhoe come in and build it up - 40' wide, 8-9' tall, 10' at the base, probably 4' on top. Alternatively, in response to Tilos' comments, SC is actually pretty good with use of tires. PM me for a contact, but DHEC is...

    theoretical illegal search and seizure

Again, it depends If the officer can articulate why he had probable cause to believe the vehicle contained contraband or the fruits of a crime, the search will be considered reasonable under the vehicle exception (I forget the Supreme Court case off hand, but it is well established). Depends...

    CWP question

Depends on the class - most are from $60 to $120. Some include prints (since digital was delayed again), others don't. Plus the SLED fee of $50. As for using your own gun - the classes I know about do not require it, but do allow it.
