I'm looking at buying a .45 auto soon and am looking at the Ruger American, but the gunstore also has a Rock Island 1911 for the same price, roughly $500. Is the Rock Island a good gun at that price or should I just stick with Ruger? Thanks in advance.

I just landed a Don Hume Jordan to go with a S&W Model 15-4 the other day. It has been a pretty good holster to just beat around town with. The gun and holster look good together in my opinion. How is y'all's experience with these holsters been thru the years?

For those of y'all that carry two guns, what is your current setup? I guess I have been watching too many westerns lately since my carry guns has been a Ruger Blackhawk and a Cobra derringer. I know most would think I'm a batty for carrying these guns for CCW, but least they match.:evil:

To keep from cluttering up my other thread with pictures, I started this one. Here are a few pic I took this morning of my Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt. The holster and belt are from El Paso Saddlery and the knife is a Buck 113 Ranger skinner.

Picked this up a while back at a local pawn shop. It's a stainless steel Blackhawk in .357 Magnum with a 4 5/8" barrel. So far it has been doing well with Federal 125 grain semi-jacketed HP. The holster is a Threepersons from El Paso Saddlery. [/URL][/IMG]

I am looking to start reloading .45 LC and .38 Special, what would a good set-up to start with? which compnets would be the best to use in terms of the ammo? This is a totally new project for me so any and all advise is welcome.

I saw a hunting show the other night and they were hunting some type of wild cattle on a ranch in Hawaii, it was a cross of Longhorn and Hereford I believe. It got me to thinking, what would gun type and what load would you use? The area they were hunting in was thick brush and real hilly.
