    Colt Commemoratives Crash

"One of the most hideous commemorative guns I've seen was S&W 29 Elmer Keith- with the awful cartoony gold plate picture of Elmer on the side..." Kookla, sounds like you might have been looking at the Elmer Fudd commemorative instead of the Elmer Keith. -----krinko

    Rapine Bullet Molds

Recently, the shop acquired a couple dozen NOS Rapine ball molds of various sizes---including an interesting .577-460 minie which I will be trying this weekend. There are also seven or eight Mystery Molds which might be of interest and maybe somebody here knows what they were made for, heh...

    Uberti Firing Pin

I have 1873 and 1875 Uberti repros with all three of their import requirement hammer systems. Aside from being slightly ugly, they all work well enough. I have not had to do any special maintenance and nothing has broken so far. The frame mounted firing pin used on the Beretta marked Bisley...

    Main Battle Rifle Pictures

Here's a couple from when "main battle rifle" was a fairly new concept. A German M71/84 from 1886 and a British Snider from 1872.

    Main Battle Rifle Pictures

    "Westerner's Arms" Yellowboy Carbine

"...early ones used different parts and new parts won't fit..." Yep. "...the 44-40 case seals the chamber and keep the action very clean..." That had not occurred to me. Thanks. If I can find some cases, I intend to try black in this carbine. If it can be cleaned without a total disassembly, it...

    "Westerner's Arms" Yellowboy Carbine

Picked this up today but still have not picked up a replacement camera---so please bear with me. The barrel is about 19 inches from muzzle to breech, the receiver is solid brass, the bolt, hammer and lever are steel. Lanyard ring, both barrel bands and screws are steel, too. It's .44-40 caliber...

    S&W 624 with Liege Proof

"Any firearm that is sold to the public in a CIP member country has to be proofed in an official proof house." That's what I was thinking, but there is a woeful lack of interest in CIP regulations and proof rules here. Hard to get good information---so thanks for that PzGren. -----krinko

    S&W 624 with Liege Proof

The definitive proof for a foreign arm is the only part on the cylinder and frame, the one on the bottom of the barrel is more involved. Proof marks on Belgian made weapons are not the same. -----krinko

    S&W 624 with Liege Proof

Liege proof on bottom of barrel, bottom of the frame and rear face of the cylinder. Otherwise a straight up stainless pistol. What is this Belgian mark doing on a Smith? Is it just something required by law for an American pistol in Belgium? -----krinko

" Aren't Cimarrons made by Uberti? Do they conform to SAAMI?" 1.Yes. 2.No. Uberti uses CIP standards. -----krinko

    1998 Pedersoli Sharps

The Pedersolis I am asking about are not current production and not made for Lyman. Mostly they say "Cabela's Sydney, Nebraska" somewhere on them The Pedersoli Sharps I have was made in 1998---22years ago. My Pedersoli Rolling Block was made in 1996. Can't find the date code on the .50...

    1998 Pedersoli Sharps

I would like to hear from someone who has experience with these---because they are quite different from current stuff. The tang sight and mounting screws for same, a tiny spirit level spring-clipped to the front sight and even the tang sight itself are all somewhat odd. I have difficulty...

    1858 Conversion Cylinder

I bought a 200 round box of Hornady "cowboy" bullets about a month ago. The box has a photo of the original founder of the company and the magic buzzword "cowboy" on it, but no indication of what the bullet actually looks like. Well, turns out it's the same one that's walking out of the OP's...

    Lyman Great Plains Flintlock Rifle

"The Lyman Great Plains is an excellent rifle, congrats." Thanks, AF, I agree, it is excellent. Tested the bore of the GP with a slug I use in the .54" paper cartridge Shiloh. The base of this bullet is .555" and it would drop free all the way down to the breech plug if I was dumb enough to let...
