RVers, what are you using for a gun safe?

When I was traveling with my target 50BMG rifle in my 38.5' fifth-wheel trailer, it was stored in a soft case under the king-sized bed which raises up to provide under storage in three compartments. I attached a coated steel cable to the frame in the floor and padlocked the other end thru action...

How accurate is this .50 ammo?

I'm interested in the IK-98 50BMG brass, as loaded or as empty brass. I reload 50BMG and enjoy using IK-98 brass as it is slightly thicker than most others and is usually very consistent weight wise. Incendiary is blue tipped and takes a major hit to light it off. (I have only 91 left - be...

Making 243 Brass out of 308 Brass

I made 500 pieces of RA-70 7.62X51 brass into 243WIN brass by sizing thru a 7mm-08 die first, a 260 die second then down to 243. I annealed after first 7mm-08 sizing. All sizing was done incomplete meaning I did not size to shoulder until final sizing in new 243 die. I use spray lanolin for...

A series of unfortunate events ( WARNING : GRAPHIC, VERY )

I had 71 50BMG CCI#35 primers go off at waist level, might still be wearing 3 of them.

Do you hunt with an AR(15-10 whatever)?

I use my AR-15 with a 7.62X39 Upper and a 40mm Red Dot type sight. Works well, handles well, and follow up shots are there, if needed. I do wish I could find 10 round magazines for this rifle/cartridge combination - the 30 round banana magazines send the wrong message.

.50 BMG that changes direction mid-flight

Why all the fuss about this??? My .50 BMG bullets change direction mid-flight everytime I shoot. I am curious what these will cost and how they will be deployed.

    12,000 rounds

If we are to measure pounds used vs number of loaded rounds, I will report that most of my 50BMG reloads used 250 grains of powder each (28 loaded rounds per pound). But I don't care = I just have FUN while shooting, no matter what cartridge.

    brass cleaning poll

Sorry - wasn't Subscribed to see your request. I found a "squirrel cage fan" for lack of proper descriptive name that is directly driven by a 1/2HP 3600RPM electric motor. I rigged it up under a table with a 5 gallon bucket attached to table over it (handle removed). I cut a 4" diameter hole in...

    12,000 rounds

Since losing my Record Book somehow during my last move, I don't even want to speculate how many loaded rounds I have made. I do know that of the 70,000 primers that I received in 2008, that I only have about 12,000 left, and have found in ammo cans primers I purchased back during the 1994...

What sort of lathe is needed?

The longer bed length is required for barrels that won't fit thru the spindle, thus requiring the use of a steady rest. The carriage and tailstock must extend beyond the longest barrel you wish to machine, with clearance for tooling blocks and tailstock travel with live center to support barrel...

    Muzzle flash pics

Will try to find my nightfire pics of 252 grains of V.V. 20N29 going BANG. Or take more pics while waking up neighbors.

What sort of lathe is needed?

Spider is just a cheap version of a chuck. Either way, a "chuck" is required on spindle left or right to properly center the barrel. How you achieve that is up to you. (I've seen wooden wedges used also.)

What sort of lathe is needed?

All depends on what caliber options you want. I needed a 60" bed length to handle 36" long barrel blanks that required using a steady rest to hold far end of barrel with carriage beyond that with tailstock still on bed. I use 2" barrel blanks for a v50BMG target rifle. My LeBlond tool room...

357 mag hunting load suggestion needed

For deer hunting, I use a MAX loading of 296 under a 180 grain XTP. For everything else in cluding Self Defense loadings, I use a MAX loading of 296 under a 140 grain XTP. Both of these loadings shoot very accurately out of my 6" SS GP100 Heavy. For practice and plinking I use 38Spcl loading...

    brass cleaning poll

Dry tumbled for 38 years, worked well on outside of cases, used red walnut treated. Now I use SS Pin processing and use my vibratory units to final polish loaded handgun ammo in corncob/NuFinish mixture. Started SS Pin processing after starting to compete in 1000 yard and 1-mile target...

    30-30 using WIN 748

I use a magnum primer with WIN748 when used in a 30-30 to ensure consistent ignition of a ball powder in typical Winter hunting conditions. Anyone else do this? In your Marlin 336's with Micro-groove rifling, you will see less pressure signs than with rifles using Ballard style rifling.

Re-purposed items on the reloading bench?

Occasionally, the Wife makes a raid on my Reloading Room to recover her SS Bowls, cookie sheets, colander, cake pans, plastic containers, and other kitchen items I find useful. Most times I get told "Go buy your own stuff."

Dillon RL550b and Dillon dies spitting spent primers

I never have this issue as I deprime all my brass in a separate op and use SS Pin processing for case cleaning. I still leave the ejector pin in place to verify flash hole is clear of any obstruction. More work, but better quality ammo, IMHO. Have never had a problem with the Dillon spent primer...

Making my own SD ammo for 44 S&W Special

I've had great experience using the XTPs in any handgun loading whether heavy & slow or light & fast. My daughter carries a 44Spcl with 240 grain XTPs as her purse gun. it is effective as a deterrent or in actual use. It will hurt you!!!
