Should I buy something FN5.7 flavored?

...On the need for pistol caliber canines? ;)

Should I buy something FN5.7 flavored?

I purposely left the firearm out for the first post to limit just how messy this thread could get (from personal experience ;) ). Suffice to say the round will be exiting a 6in barrel- maybe 10in -as opposed to the FiveSeveN's 4 in barrel. I appreciate the comprehensive and balanced response...

Should I buy something FN5.7 flavored?

I know the caliber had been around a while, but it's only recently come to my attention since a firearm I'm researching features it. So I go to look up information on the round itself and... Wow, what a mess. I've got the basics of what the round is designed to do, but the question of...

Who currently makes new pistol caliber carbines?

So we've gone from my experience with keltec and Hipoint, to my personal experience with the revelant models, to other people's experience? Really? Now you're pushing the goal post further down the field and arguing just to argue. Good day, sir.

How do you see your hits at 100 yds or further?

Or you can go cheapskate like I do and mount your digital camera on a tripod and focus in, assuming you have the zoom to support it. Most cameras have ample digital zoom and you won't be taking pictures anyway. My HX9v has 16x optical zoom good to about 50m and 64x digital that will snap lower...

    First Rifle recommendations

Was in the same situation a while back, so maybe you can profit from my mistake. Upon some consideration, I ended up with a Mossberg 500. I figured it fit the home defense bill and I could take it out to the range for fun. Maybe even hunting if I got around to it. To my dismay, I found it less...

    1911 vs Revolver

In a straight shootout, I think the revolver-1911 comparison is one to one. I would suggest, however, the proficiency ceiling for combat reloading is significantly lower when talking magazines. Note, I'm not saying you can't match a 1911's reload speed, just that there is longer, more intensive...

    A Mauser. Some 45acp. Why?

I could see a bolt action pushing some very hot loads out the barrel. Think a mauser would eat some 460 rowland since 45 super is on the table?

Who currently makes new pistol caliber carbines?

But I do see the a connection to the question you actually ASKED, not the one you implied in order to bait an answer :) I've at very least touched the arms in question and owned a couple in the brands discussed, to answer your question directly. I can tell you that keltec builds products with...

    10mm Carbines

MechTech sells the conversions for 10mm glock to carbine, but beyond that and an AR, your other alternatives are decidedly homebrew.

Who currently makes new pistol caliber carbines?

...If you're into disposible firearms :) Hipoint dominates this catagory for cheap and reliable range fun. If the mag capacity is a deal breaker for you, you're going to have to budget $500+ or take a vastly more historic route to your goal :)

    A Mauser. Some 45acp. Why?

Okay, there's nothing a little .45acp won't cure. And lets face it, a Mauser is fine, too. But why would I potentially want to combine the two into a bolt action, 45acp carbine? Now granted, it does harbor a certain menace, but I'm still somewhat mystified. :scrutiny: I'm thinking this...

Anyone else find the Marlin 1895/.45-70 Govt to be an incredible combination?

Is that one of the newer remlin builds or an older pre? Just curious, as the groups turned out nice and you seem happy with the fit and finish.

Chrome-lined barrel - Why pay for one?

The only reason for a chome lined barrel to be less accurate is if it was poorly applied in the manufacturing process.

    Best .45 ACP for concealment

Chiming in off that, the only thing I've found virtually impossible to carry is a HiPoint, either .45 or 9 doesn't matter. Contrast that to my full frame 1911 45acp which is imminently carriable. You'll feel it, but it isn't a brick.

    Taurus ctg29 carbine

With the $200 I saved off the Taurus (or more if you're throwing a Cx4 into the mix) I prettied that HiPoint up with ATI aftermarket stock for about $50-70 and accessorized. Now it's attractive, still reliable and can do everything both the CTG29 and CX4 does-- probably better if the internet...
