Just because you see it on the internet doesn't make it a good idea.

Sometimes you have to realize that you don't know, what you don't know. Sometimes it is hard to tell someone that thinks they know it all, that there is more to it. After the powder guess and different components were chosen, there wasn't much of a load workup or groups on paper, was there?

    Model 19 S&W vs 586

Y'all let me know when you want to get rid of those flimsy P&R model 19(s) from the 1960s. I love 'em.

How many here anneal their 45 colt/454/460/480 etc... brass?

I've never annealed a straight-walled case. Nor have I ever noticed a need. It is always interesting to question the status quo...however I think the headstamps of my handgun brass will become unreadable before I get more than a handful of cracked cases, even when slightly belling a case with...

    45 Colt rifle loads

I'd add a caveat on 'Ruger Only' loads. I'd certainly not use them in my '73 Winchester. But if you had a stronger lever gun, you'd be good with those too.Your Marlin may very well be up to handling 'Ruger Only' loads...but I'd research that. A regular Cowboy-level 45 Colt 255 Gr (8.5 Gr of...

Anyone use Unique powder very often?

You can get improve results with your Dillon 550 measures two ways. The first is being consistent. Keep the hopper mostly full by refilling it often. Then focus on using the press at the same speed, and with the same force. This isn't to be underestimated. Secondly, there are a number of...

Anyone use Unique powder very often?

There are too many great loads with Unique to dismiss it. I've always loved: Stephen Camp's 9x19mm load with 124 Gr XTP The classic 45 Colt 8.5 Gr of Unique and a 255 Gr lead bullet.

Anyone use Unique powder very often?

Exactly. Further, when you clean your guns anyway, it doesn't matter. Some soot doesn't impact function in any way.

Should I experiment with my .45 Colt?

This seems to be an extremely popular .45 Colt load. I use it as well, with 255 Gr LRNFP.

9.3x62mm Mauser - "Put a spell on you..."

9.3x62mm is a GREAT cartridge. Especially with today's powders. I like RL-15 and Ramshot's Big Game CZ93x62 by RugerOldArmy posted Mar 26, 2018 at 6:52 PM9-3MauserComp by RugerOldArmy posted May 1, 2018 at 10:19 AM

Are some powders "cooler" than others

Another $.02: Worry more about heat from a short interval between shots. The .270 will make for spectacular hits, and some longer shots. The downside for prairie dogs are: - How much louder a .270 win is than a .223 (it will keep the dogs down more). - The recoil, although reduced by a...

Are some powders "cooler" than others

I've had FAR better luck loading bullets on the light side in .270 Win than I ever did with .308 Win. In both cases, however, the faster powders shoot more accurately with these light bullets. In terms of barrel wear, with such an overbore cartridge, the faster powders, to my thinking, will be...

    Why the yardage exaggeration

The best hunting stories I've heard were from a writer called Peter Hathaway Capstick. They involved much shorter ranges, and game with an attitude, but I find them more credible than the long shot stories you see on the internet.
