I like Bartlein but there are plenty of good ones. I would got with a 1 in 8 twist though over a 1 in 10. With the 1-8 you can shoot anything up to 80 gr and maybe even 90s. A 80 gr AMAX at 3200+ would be a killer 1000 yard round.
This is why you should not trust everything you see on the internet.....There is no way that a .223 would kill something better than a .22-250 when it has a 300+ fps edge using the same components.
Don Geraci Built Remington 700 .308
22 in. Bartlein 1-10
Manners T2 with Mini Chassis
Vortex Viper PST

5 shots 155 gr Berger Hybrid
10 shots Hornady 178 gr HPBT @300
I would not waste your time doing all that prep to form from .22-250. Creed brass is everywhere and reasonable. Is Hornady brass as good as Lapua? No, but it's solid brass that has won plenty of events. Go Creed and never look back.
I'm in the process of building a 6mm creedmoor that will sling...
2000-MR is my go to powder for .308. I'm slanging 168 berger hybrids at 2840ish from a 22 in. Bartlein with 48.2 gr of 2000MR in Lapua brass. Check out there website it caters to the precision rifle shooter. You might just have the fastest Remington barrel ever made.
My custom 700 was a SPS varmint in its previous life which is probably the best bang for the buck out there IMO. Anyway you have a very long throat which helps aid in the pressure dept but I have never seen that velocities that high with 4064. WIN brass is generally faster bc it can handle more...
All my data shows at 2700ish a 175 smk should be around 95" of drop at 600. Looks like the magneto is off or you are deifying the laws of physics. Either way that load is smoking!
Care to give the details of your rifle and load?
I wouldn't think any do. The point of hunting seasons is to harvest game not to make it as difficult as possible. I hunt in MS and they are getting rid of primitive all together because they realize it really does not matter.
It depends on bullet selection. A Berger 180 @3000 you are looking at ballistics rivaling a .338 Lapua to 1500 yards in a short action! If your just buying off the shelf ammo it will still be better than most mentioned. A .270 isn't even close to a 7WSM. Hand loads is where it really shines...
