Open carry ...at the Post Office?

Thanks for all the replies. I don't think I will be testing the waters any time soon.

Open carry ...at the Post Office?

While standing in line today to pick up some packages and I noticed the guy in front of me was open carrying a Glock in a Serpa-style holster. He was not in any kind of uniform. If he was some form of LEO, he was either off duty or under cover. Have I been misinformed about the law regarding...

    Shot timers

Been thinking it is about time to add a shot timer to the range bag and was wondering what y'all use. This would just be for myself and wife to use, no matches or club shoots. What features do you like about yours? Where did you get it? Is it sensitive enough for dry-fire practice? All of...

Two legged dangers in National Parks

A looooooong time ago my wife and I were camping in Great Basin NP during the off season at the end of a remote loop. About midnight we heard crunching in the gravel outside our tent like someone or something was trying to be sneaky. I thought it was a 4 legged critter since there was no other...

    Scope clearance on AR rifles

I have several AR-10 and AR-15 rifles with scopes mounted on a flattop receiver. My problem is lack of finger clearance to get a good purchase on the charging handle. By the time I get the scope positioned for eye relief, the scope is sitting right on top of the charging handle. Do I need...

    Animal encounters

Wife and I were setting up the pop-up camper on the Mogollon Rim in AZ last summer. Had our three dogs with us. All of a sudden, the dogs start going ballistic. I looked around and 50 yards from us sat a black bear, just watching us. I start yelling "Get the camera!" and the wife yells "Get...

    Gun Locks

I used one a few months ago when I was flying with my pistol. I used the lock to secure the hardside box to the frame of the suitcase.

    Arizona Gun Shops

Flagstaff has Ruff's, Pistol Parlor, and Horizon. Pistol Parlor does a lot of custom work. I drooled over one of his 1911s a while back. We are on a first name basis with the guys at Ruff's. Heck, I think we have put at least one of his kids through college! Been to Horizon once, but wasn't...

    Springfield GI firing pin stop?

A word of warning......if you fit yours as snug as I did mine, it will be a bear to get back in when you strip and clean the pistol. Everything has to be lined up PERFECTLY. If your extractor is not rotated exactly correct, the FPS will not go. Takes me a few tries to get the extractor lined...

    Springfield GI firing pin stop?

I put one on my Mil-Spec and it made a world of difference. I put a very small bevel on the bottom where the hammer rides against it, and, along with stopping the clocking issue, it helps reduce felt recoil. May be my imagination though, because I have no real way to prove it other than the...

    Need help finding a magazine

Thanks everyone. I may have hooked up with a member on another forum. His prices are better than the online stores and he has them in stock!

    Need help finding a magazine

Thanks for trying guys. Seems we have a bunch of night owls here. I already checked Midway, Brownells, Top Gun and one or two others I can't remember. They are either backordered or they don't appear to carry them. I didn't realize that model S&W was so popular. The class is coming up soon...

    Need help finding a magazine

The wife wants to shoot her Smith and Wesson Model 4526 in an upcoming defensive pistol class. The class requires a minimum of 3 mags, and recommends having 4 mags for your pistol. Our problem is we only have 2 mags for this pistol. Does anyone have a source for mags that would work? It is a...

How windy is too windy to zero a scope?

Well, I went out for a bit. It was a LOT windier out there than here at the house. Good news.....it was almost straight behind me. Bad news.....it was COLD. I only stayed long enough for twenty rounds at 25 yards, but I am real happy with what I accomplished. I am pretty well zeroed at 25...

How windy is too windy to zero a scope?

I was planning on going out this afternoon to zero my new scope on my new rifle, but we are getting a bit of breeze today. Wind is 10 -15 mph. If it is blowing the same direction at the range as it is here at the house, it will be a full value cross wind. Rifle is a Bushmaster LR 308...

Would like to put a scope on AR-15 carry handle

I have an Ar-10 with the scope on the handle. It is not a problem for me unless I go prone. I have a hard time cranking my neck back far enough to get a good sight picture. If I am shooting offhand, sitting, or bench, it works great for me.

    Boy, Am I Unlucky.

My Armalite AR-10 would do that same thing. I bought it used, and suspect that was the reason it was traded in. I took it back to the gun store, and even though there was no warranty on it, they sent it to Armalite for me and footed the bill for repair and shipping! That is why they get a lot...

Practical Accuracy for the common man..

I have a Rem 788 .308 with a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20 scope. I bought it third hand from a guy my wife worked with at the time. I don't shoot near as much now as I used to, but "back in the day" the rifle would put 3 rounds in a ragged hole at 100 yards if I did my part. On a bad day, my...
