Thanks for the info. I am not registered on taurusarmed.net and I generally try not to register on forums that I don't check often but I will probably do so.
Thanks again,

A friend of mine at work asked me to look at a revolver her grandmother gave to her. It is an older Taurus Model 65 with a pinned barrel and recessed cylinder. Externally it looks a lot like a S&W Model 65 except not as refined. The serial number is 309XX so it seems like an early model from...
I recently just picked up two 686-4 7 shots. One is a 2.5" and the other is a 4". I personally would get a 7 shot over a 6 if I had the choice. Nothing wrong with the 6 shot but why not have the extra round.
Also I would look around for a nice used one without the lock. I know lock...
Saturday morning I was out fooling around and decided to stop in one of my favorite pawn shops. I don't usually get any screaming deals from them but they are at least realistic on their pricing which I like. To my surprise they had a quite a few S&W's in the case today. A 686 and a 586...
Just picked up my first Model 617 which I have been wanting for a long time. It is a no dash all original and as far as I can tell barely fired. Can't wait to get out and put some rounds downrange.

Very nice! I also picked up my first .357 a couple of weeks back. I decided on a Model 66 (no dash) in similar condition to yours. I paid exactly the same. I plan on useing it for the same purposes you are and I also decided on a classic S&W over the the GP100. Not that there is anytning...
BigB,
I have about 50 rounds through my 642 and I have the same thing you do. Not quite as bad though. I actually came here looking for info on it and ran into your post.
Does any one know if this is normal for 642's? I did not think they had problems with flame cutting.
Thanks...
The M1 Garand is my favorite rifle. I purchased 3 Garands before I purchased my first AR. I generally don't sell firearms but if I had to the AR would go before my Garands.
With that said as a pure SHTF rifle I would probably get an AR over a Garand but I would choose an AK over the AR for...
39 Century LTD.
I picked up a 39 Century LTD. a few weeks back. I was testing it out and I noticed that it would not feed any rounds at all. After playing with it for a while I noticed that the lever was out of spec and was binding against the cartridge carrier thus causing the carrier to not...
I have purchased 3 Garands and 1 M1 carbine from the CMP. All were great deals and great shooters. I would not hesitate to buy from them.

Thanks for all the info guys! I am probably going to pass on the trade since I was not getting a great deal to begin with. It was a fair trade but not after having to put money into it right away.
Thanks,

Hi Harmonic,
I do believe it is just the blade but I need to get better pictures of it first. I did not realize the grips were not the same. So I take it that it will probably cost me a bit to replace the chipped one?
Thanks for the info!
