    This is a Tactical Shotgun

Very nice gun. In all honesty, I'd consider putting on plastic furniture if only to protect the original wood. Assuming that is the original wood.

    Open Carry Encounters

I'm much more inclined toward CC for the usually stated reasons, but if anything was going to motivate me to OC, it would be this.

    Minimum caliber for dog protection

When I saw the thread title, my first thought was "depends on what's attacking your dog..."

30 or 40 degrees on your edc?

I bought a Lansky controlled-angle sharpener, which I still haven't completely mastered. I've been putting a 25 degree angle on my Benchmade folder, but it's not really a combat knife either.

    $150 Budget? lol

Two things: 1. You mentioned in the original post that you're also looking for a shotgun? You can get better quality in a pump shotgun for $150 than you can get in a handgun for the same price. And if home defense is your concern, it's a more effective weapon anyway. 2. Hi-Points. I've heard...

    Campus Carry bill Tx

It takes less than a minute to call a Senator/Rep and tell the staff you'd like them to support a bill. Usually, the staff member will take your name and address and put you on a list for the boss showing how many people bothered to call in and show support/disapproval. If things are as screwed...

    Campus Carry bill Tx

Just received the following urgent message on Facebook from TX SCCC: -------------------------------- Stop whatever you’re doing, and get to a computer! If you’re reading this on your iPhone while driving down the interstate, don’t even bother looking for an off-ramp; just pull onto the...

    Campus Carry bill Tx

I've been told that the way the TX legislature works, the two different bills (HB750 and SB354) can't be reconciled after passing their respective houses even if they did start out as companion bills. If this is correct, it means that mission #1 is to get SB 354 through the Senate and into the...

    Campus Carry bill Tx

IIRC, last session the bill was left abandoned in Calendars. So yes, I think we need to start making phone calls to whoever is on the Calendars Committee.

Ammo Prices going up april 1st - are you buying more now?

They found a copper vein in Peru? Wow, that'll help out nicely along with the recently increased lead supply from Africa!

    Weatherby and Glock?

The Weatherby Vanguard, their less-expensive model, is made by Howa in Japan and has been for some years now. It is a well-built rifle IMO, comparable with the Remington 700. Weatherby has a history of farming out production to foreign companies, like Sako and J.P. Sauer. Not exactly low-quality...

HB 750, last action 3-16 "Reported favorably w/o amendments," means it's out of committee and headed to Calendars. http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLookup/History.aspx?LegSess=82R&Bill=HB750 SB 354, last action 3-22 "Left Pending in Committee."...

Star Firestar .40 S&W does not eject the last fired case

My sister-in-law carries a Firestar .40; I've never heard of it having any problems. One of my good friends has a Firestar 9mm that he also carries, and its only issue is a slightly worn safety lever that seems to come off too easily. He doesn't carry it in Condition 1 for this reason. We put a...

    LCP Failures

You'll have to be a bit more specific on the type of failure. Failure to fire, feed, or eject? Are all failures with factory magazines?

    Auto Ordnance M1 Carbine...purchase?

Only downside I would say is finding cheap ammo. It might be different where you are, but around here .30 Carbine is expensive when you can find it.

    Idaho House passes guns-on-campus bill

I feel the same way about CC on college campuses as I do about CC everywhere else. Why would it be different?

    Ruger LC9 for conceal carry?

I think it's small enough to CC depending on your pockets. Wearing jeans, you should have no problem. It's bigger than the .380 by just less than an inch in both dimensions. Similarly sized single-stack 9mm pistols include the Kel-Tec PF9 and Taurus 709. I'm sure there are others.

Very nice knife. How much did it run, if you don't mind? Also, where'd you get those wood grips for your Baby Eagle?

Leaving an SBR at a friend's house?

I second the notion of writing a letter to the ATF. That's the only way to be sure. Although of course it makes me sick to think that we have to worry about a federal felony for possessing a barrel that is 2 inches below some arbitrary standard.

    Ferrous metal in bullets ?

FYI, I just tested 3 types of .45 ACP ammo I had on hand. These are all Brass-cased FMJ. None of them were attracted to a hard drive magnet I pulled off my fridge. -Winchester White Box -Remington UMC (from the 250-rd Mega Pack) -Monarch Brass from Academy. After reading this thread, I...
