    3-Gun on a budget?

It's called "Production Division" for your pistol, "Limited/Tactical" for your shotgun, and "Limited" for your rifle. These are all iron-sights only. Any 4" pistol with spare factory mags (like the G34 mentioned), any pump shotgun, and an AR with a float tube will be plenty sufficient. You...

    thinking of reloading

One thing I came across when looking at 32ACP: it seems that different manufacturers have different brass thickness, and with such a small case, it may give you case neck tension trouble. Here's the thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=587302 ...

    thinking of reloading

You don't have any brass yet? IMO your best bet is to shoot factory ammo until you have built up enough brass. It's not economical to buy bullets and powder in small amounts. 32cal bullets seem to be more expensive than 9mm bullets! At least from a quick search at leading vendors. I don't...

Positive experiences with Lee presses - No bashing!

I started with the Breech Lock Challenger kit, and made a few hundred rounds of 7.62mm and 9mm each. Then I got a Pro1000, which has only given me ONE flipped primer in 800 rounds of 9mm (my fault for letting the primer magazine run empty). I'm considering using it for .223 Rem soon, if finances...

Are Higher priced progressives really that much better?

I'm currently using a Pro1000, because saving up for an XL650 w/casefeed is going to take MONTHS. Meanwhile, the $150 Pro1000 has already made about 600rds of 9mm in the last week. I haven't had any primer problems because I keep the tray at least full enough to have the whole ski-ramp filled. I...

    Don’t buy this scale.

Off topic: Psyshack, in that first picture, what are those glowing knobs on the front? That case looks absolutely great! On topic: Anyway, I have a cheap digital scale right now that I calibrate every startup, and check weight between each measurement. For pistol charges I measure 10 to get an...

    Worrisome signs on spent brass?

DEFINITELY OVER PRESSURE! Sorry for the caps, but I see an ejector mark on the casehead, and that means holy-crap-high pressure. The enormous pressure inside the case is squishing brass into the bolt face so hard, the brass is flowing into the ejector plug recess.

    Worrisome signs on spent brass?

Did you also get ejector marks/swipes? I've never heard of spiderweb marks before, but man, that really doesn't sound good. If your bolt face is leading any sort of imprints, I'd call it excessive pressure. Did you get good ubturation on the case neck (i.e. is your case clean around the neck...

    High volume rifle brass trimming

Tom488, you're my hero for having an RT1200. I can't wait to have room in the budget for one. 41 Mag, I too use the 3-way cutter (223 in my case, with the power drill adapter). I love the way it cuts, I think I may be using to much pressure though because most of my cases need to be re-neck...

How do you justify plated over lead ?

Personally, I like plated because they're a tiny bit cheaper than jacketed in medium qunatities, and they are also a bit safer to handle (FMJ has exposed lead at the base). And if I'm lucky, they'll be more accurate than jacketed as well!

Anyone tried Montana Gold's new 50gr JHP?

Montana Gold added 50gr JHP to their selection in the last month or two. At $0.09ea I think these may be good for cheap, short tange, accurate 223 loads. Anybody tried them yet?

Reloaded and tested my first 9mm loads this weekend!

My previous reloading experience has been mostly with 308 and a some 223. Reloading rifle cartidges always seemed intuitive enough. But seeing so many threads about trouble with pistol cartridges had me a little worried. Despite that, once I sat down with the 9mm dies things moved along without...

Lee Deal at Cabela's a Good Start?

I also started with the Breechlock Challenger kit. Totally worth the money, but I wish I would have gone with the Turret kit instead, so I could load faster once I got the hang of things. I love the powder measure. The scale, trimmer, chamfer/deburr tool, WORK, but I have replaced them with...

    Don't overload!

I don't understand NOT using a powder measure, at all. A Lee Perfect Powder Measure costs about $20 SHIPPED from Factory Sales. Run a hopper full of your powder through it (into a dixie cup, then dump it back in the hopper), and they throw +/- 0.1 grain. For hundreds of rounds, I weighed every...

    Shot size?

No matter what your load is, collateral damage is always a possibility. You should only shoot if you're confident you have to, and don't spray shots around just because the load is 'safe'. I wouldn't use anything smaller than #4 buck either.
