    9mm Celebration Gift Challenge

I'm going to add to the RIA 9mm 1911 bandwagon. I have one. It's a fun range toy. I bought it specifically for that purpose. I use aftermarket mags, and I did need to send it to RIA for some warranty service. But their service is 5-star, and they paid for shipping both ways.

    Buckshot or Buckshot

My application for firearms is purely for the purpose of 2-legged defense. I think anything from slugs to BB shot will get that job done, with #4 buck probably being the absolute sweet spot. However, 00 buck seems to be the most available option by far.

    S&W 686 it's hard to beat

I like my Ruger revolvers for probably a stupid reason - I prefer the cylinder release button. With that said, I would love me a 6" Colt Python or Anaconda. Those are absolute beauties of a gun. Wait, this was a S&W thread? I don't know, their revolvers never spoke to me. Although I do...

    Recoil of 9mm vs 380

The question is whether you want a "fair" or a "realistic" comparison. For example, an LC380 vs. an LC9 is a very fair comparison. However, when comparing a Ruger LCP to a S&W M&P9, the M&P is much softer shooting, because it has a much better grip and weighs a lot more. With that said, the...

    Companies with good customer service

My experience with RIA was excellent. Had a pretty good experience with Benelli as well. I believe my Dad had a good experience with Taurus. Safariland is a horribly run company and I will never purchase anything from them again.

Help me pick my IDPA gun

Update on the GP100 - got a new grip and it fits much better now. Gonna test it out at the range tomorrow.

    Ruger’s Lightweight Compact Revolver?

I don't know, those don't really speak to me. I like the big beefy barrels on the SP101 and the GP100.

Gun Prices - Are They Justified?

Maybe it's ignorance, but I can't really tell the difference in capability between most cheap guns and most expensive guns. Compare a hi-point to a Glock? Yes, it makes sense that the Glock is more expensive. But what makes a USP twice the price of a Glock? What makes a FN Scar 6x the price...

    Ruger’s Lightweight Compact Revolver?

I used to have one, I think it's my Mom's now. It's a great gun. I'd like to get another one at some point. Right now my only other revolver is a GP100. Are you noticing a theme with my wheelguns?

    Ruger’s Lightweight Compact Revolver?

I like carrying it. I like holding it. I like dryfiring it. At the range, it's accurate. I absolutely hate shooting it.

At the end of the day, do you leave the magazine loaded or unloaded?

Anything I have ready to carry is always ready to carry.

Ruger GP100 sight changes - so easy, even Skribs can do it

@stonebuster @SSBN617b @Col. Harrumph @Tinman357 @JohnKSa How many of you are liking my post because you've done the same thing?

Ruger GP100 sight changes - so easy, even Skribs can do it

I did use this trick. However, thing was dang near perfect from the start. Just a quarter turn south and it was dead on. Or it was the right amount of off to compensate for my technique. Either way, I was hitting bullseyes.

Ruger GP100 sight changes - so easy, even Skribs can do it

This sounds much better than my usual process. Shoot a round, hit left. Turn the windage knob three clicks to what I think is right. Shoot a second shot, hit further left. Turn the windage knob six clicks in the other direction. Shoot a third shot, hit waaaayyyyyy left. Realize the problem...

Ruger GP100 sight changes - so easy, even Skribs can do it

I don't know how many of you know this Skribs guy, or his history with gunsmithing, but the dude is one of the most incompetent gunsmiths to ever gunsmith. There was one time, when the folks on this forum assured him that he could do a drop-in trigger kit at home, and this total ape managed to...

Left hand reload - left pointer or right thumb to push the button?

Here is the process I am using right now (also maybe should have done a video): Adjust my grip. Left thumb goes lower on the grip so my left pointer finger can push the button. Right middle finger moves to the front of the trigger guard, right index finger onto the cylinder. Push in with both...

Help me pick my IDPA gun

I've recently started BJJ. My thought process is that if I show up, have fun, and do my best, I'm going to improve. If I put too much pressure on myself, I'll fail to live up to that and quit. So my goal in IDPA is going to be the same. I'm going to show up. I'm going to shoot stuff. It...

Left hand reload - left pointer or right thumb to push the button?

I've settled on the opposite. Using my trigger finger guarantees it's not going to block the cylinder from opening (if I leave it indexed). I'm still holding on with 2 hands until the cylinder is out and I can get a solid grip with my right hand, so it doesn't change the next step at all.

Help me pick my IDPA gun

Okay, y'all win. I'm planning on the GP100. Just gotta get some kit (speedloaders, kydex holster, etc.) and I'll be good to go. The thing that won me over is that it's NOT one of my carry guns. So it's usually empty and I can do all kinds of practice with it. Also that revolvers are good...
