I'll add this pistol attributed to Houston without comment, except to say that it doesn't appear to be cut down as described. In the case of both, I'd be interested to know what provenance supports the attribution to Houston apart from the inscriptions.

Ephraim, I would be very interested to see an example or other documentation of an original Third Model Dragoon with an 18" barrel. BTW, I had this ASM for several years. It had the barrel address and serial numbers of an original, but the shoulder stock was a dead giveaway.

Looking more closely at the cylinder, it appears that "Colt's" is in a different font than "Patent". So, quite likely an added marking, not factory as I wanted to believe. Whatever the case, I am still very pleased with it.
