    6mm Creed or .243 Winchester

Thanks guys: There is certainly enough information her to enable one to make a decision. Now I think I'll ponder a bit over a 25-06 and a 270 The only thing that might sway my initial decision between the two particular guns is the 6.5 has a nice scope and is about the same prices as the 243

    6mm Creed or .243 Winchester

I currently own neither, but, by next weekend one will live in my house, What I have gathered from this forum is choose 243 for a 243 diameter bullet, a faster twist for heavy bullets at 300 plus yards. Makes a 243 dia hole in a deer rib. Choose a 6/6.5mm because it shoots a 243...

How to get BP brass clean?

I throw my black powder brass in a vibratory tumbler with walnut media and a handful of steel pins. I have used ceramic with the walnut for equally good results.

1851 navy 36 caliber for deer and hogs will it be enough?

Military weapons are designed to wound, not kill. A wounded soldier requires at least 2 others to care for him when they could be fighting. An 1851 is kinda like cholera. It will probably kill you but it may take a week. To answer the question, No it is not enough gun for any medium sized game...

    chamber reaming

I had the OPs question done to a pair of Uberti 1860s and as far as I was concerned it ruined them. Even with a 457 ball my accuracy was hopeless.

    Home made wads

The only thing I could add is that I found the cheap 11mm punch make great patches for the 44 cal cap guns. I use the same homemade bullet lube to melt and pour over the wads. Then squeeze them to distribute the lube.

    Oddball fouling buildup in rifle

I had the same problem when I started shooting black. Bullet is not carrying enough lube. Either buy a bullet that does or add a grease cookie under the bullet. I tried grease wads and they would sometimes stick to the base of the bullet giving spectacularly inaccurate shots.
