When does a pile of junk become classified as a suppressor?

That was very interesting and educational, although not entirely surprising. Thanks Joe.

When does a pile of junk become classified as a suppressor?

I take it that nobody actually knows what is stated in the law as to what constitutes a suppressor or suppressor part?

When does a pile of junk become classified as a suppressor?

At least you understand what I'm getting at, although I am not really interested in a philosophical discussion right now; I just want to know how the inherent subjectivity of this matter is handled by law. Examples of actual court cases would help, or excerpts from written law codes. I have...

When does a pile of junk become classified as a suppressor?

My last thread became locked before anybody could answer my question. To rephrase it better, when do miscellaneous hardware store supplies become legally identifiable as a suppressor? Obviously a piece of aluminum or PVC pipe laying on a table is not a suppressor. Putting an end cap on it does...

Is approval needed to construct "suppressors"?

Do I need NFA paperwork just to build a suppressor, or is it not needed until I actually plan on using the thing? I'm thinking that, technically speaking, if I build the thing myself, it could not be considered a suppressor until I use it as such, or declare it as such. Until then, it is...

    Holster for SCOPED Ruger mk3?

I actually just found one; must have missed it during my initial searches: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/429568/tactical-solutions-belt-holster-ambidextrous-ruger-mark-i-mark-ii-mark-iii-22-45-kydex-black

    Holster for SCOPED Ruger mk3?

Can't find any; d'rather not make one out of duct tape. I have the basic target model with a bull barrel, not the 22/45. I have the scope on high see-through mounts so I wouldn't have to remove the rear sight. I don't like the bandolier style holsters.

    Patched round balls in shotguns?

I've had this idea for a while. Imagine taking, say, a .58 cal (.57 diameter) round ball, patching it up to fit a 12GA bore, loading it into a 12GA shell, and using that as your deer/defensive load. Recoil would be dramatically lighter than any slug on the market, but without really...

Tang design on "Woodsman's Pal Military Premium"?

That was quick. Thanks for the info RC.

Tang design on "Woodsman's Pal Military Premium"?

The basic Woodsman's Pal has a true full-profile tang, as is clearly seen due to it's sandwich handle construction. I never, ever buy blades for camping/survival/yard work purposes that possess any other tang style than this, as I don't like my tools breaking, especially when I am in the middle...

Do H&R Pardners fold in half?

I know some break-action guns can be folded in half without needing to be disassembled, but I cannot remember if the H&R's can or not.

How to legally get/make NFA weapons.

NH at the moment. Thanks for everyone's help, I think I get it now... I think.

How to legally get/make NFA weapons.

I have had no reason to study the relevant terminology on this subject up to this point. Most people don't magically know everything there is to be known in the realm of human knowledge, so why waste your time belittling them with unfortunately pointless posts?

How to legally get/make NFA weapons.

I should have been more specific. I want to take a Remington 870 and cut the barrel to the end of the magazine (about 12" barrel length), and cut the stock to a pistol grip. What "title" would such a weapon be?

    Short-barreled shotgun velocities?

At what barrel length does a typical 2-3/4" 12GA load reach it's peak velocity? By "typical" I mean standard power loads like those consisting of 9 pellets of 00 buck advertised at 1300 fps, or 1-1/4 oz of birdshot at 1200 fps, etc. I've heard it's alot less than the legal minimum barrel...

How to legally get/make NFA weapons.

I am vaguely aware that you need to pay the ATF $200 to legally make something like a short-barreled rifle or shotgun. I don't have the faintest idea how to go about doing this. Who do I call? What forms do I need to fill out and how do I get them? Does doing this simply grant me permission...

    Reloading shotshells without a press?

Interesting. Primer reconstruction is an aspect of reloading I have not yet experimented with. Do you have a more detailed description of how to do this?

    Reloading shotshells without a press?

Overall, the trend I have noticed in published reloading data is that loads using light shot charges at low velocities with common shotgun/pistol powders have low pressures. The only danger I have ever heard of with working up light loads is that of stuck projectiles in the bore, and I am in...

    Reloading shotshells without a press?

This site, as useful as it is to me, has made me acutely aware of that.
