    Fire forming .30-06 cases

I do have a load that shows promise, the barrel is nearly virgin. My buddy told me he had fired in the neighborhood of 50-75 rounds through the gun. I've put at least that many rounds through the gun in 2 weeks. The pratice wasn't wasted I've become more accustomed to the trigger and worked...

    Fire forming .30-06 cases

I loaded all 50 cases, practice ammo with IMR4064 and 150gr Hornady FMJBT bullets. Trying to minimize the use of the more expensive Hornady Interbonds I have on the shelf. I'm doing this for a buddy of mine, I have his rifle and I'm trying to cook up the most accurate hunting load I can...

    Fire forming .30-06 cases

That's one of the two bushings I purchased and used it on some R-P brass. I'm becoming a fan of neck sizing, so much easier that full length sizing without having to mess with any lube. The recipes I used worked really well, accurate and consistent, but the smuck behind the trigger could...

    Fire forming .30-06 cases

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm getting into rifle reloading a little more in depth and this hasn't been discussed a big way. I just bought a Redding Competition Neck sizer with a couple of bushings to avoid full length resizing and hopefully produce more accurate ammo.

    Fire forming .30-06 cases

Hi Folks, I have some virgin Winchester brass that I'd like to fire form to my rifle's chamber, without having to load and shoot live rounds. I'm not trying to change the brass to a wildcat round, I'm just trying to save a little on powder, bullets, and a couple of visits to the range...

    Brazilian made 1911s

I have an early '90s Springer 1911, rock stock A1, except a couple of Wolff springs. Good gun, shoots hardball without any issues, my light SWC handload has the occassional failure to feed. The gun is more capable than I am at 25yds.

    Expect Ammo and Component Shortages

Nothing new here, I ordered a 5.5in Ruger Redhawk in August '11, it still hasn't been built, called and e-mailed Ruger multiple times. I finally received my CC permit and ordered an LCP, which hopefully will in something less than 6 months. The manager of the LGS mentioned that many of his...

In search of a more powerful 44spl carry load.

I hate posting handloads but this one hit a nerve. My ole man developed and I chronographed a duty load for his Model 22 Smith. He took his time working up the load in small increments as every reloading manual recommends. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Starline Nickle plated brass virgin, CCI #350...

    10mm thoughts

Haven't shot 10mm but would like to add another possible choice. The S&W Model 610. They're not currently being produced but barrel lengths were 3 7/8in and 6in. All stainless and it would allow you to shoot .40SW for practice and work up some pretty stiff 10mm loads for the outdoors. I've...

    case trimmmer: electric vs manual?

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the Forester Power Case Trimmer. I mounted this case trimmer to a 17in Delta drill press spinning at 450rpm. Overkill, maybe, but I watched my ole Man burn up two powered case trimmers in the late '80s-'90s, one Lyman and one RCBS. By the time you figure the...

    Need a versatile .44Mag powder

My practice load in .44Mag is 7.5gr Unique using a 240gr SWC about 1000fps, and a pleasant round to shoot and no sore hands afterword. Unique isn't to dirty in this application. In .44Spl 6.0gr Power Pistol using the same 240gr SWC, feels like a .38Spl in my 7.5in Redhawk.

Thanks for saving me the trouble and broken de-capping pin.

    power pistol and 9mm

One more thing, I wouldn't worry to much about the flash. During daylight hours I haven't noticed a huge flash during my drills for qual. 20grs of 2400 pushing a 240gr .44 mag will produce noticable flash plus a 12in flame that I can't see, but it's really cool watching from the...

    power pistol and 9mm

My standard load is 6.0gr PP with 170gr SWC in .40SW, works great in my H&K USPc to duplicate my duty ammo for practice. I did work up a PP load my Redhawk in .44mag, 9.5grs under a 240gr SWC yielded 1000fps. Please keep in my this load is not listed anywhere, I e-mailed Alliant to find a...

    Unfamiliar headstamp

    Hi folks, I'm trying to track down a .308 headstamp. Starting at the 9 o'clock position is a 0, 12 o'clock 308W, 3 o'clock 0, and 6 o'clock 82, 83, or 84 (obviously the date of manufacter). One more time: 0 308W 0 and two digit year. I've tried a couple of websites without any...

    power pistol and 9mm

Power pistol works great in several calibers. I use it primarily in .40SW. The powder flakes are about as big as Bullseye but definitely smaller that Unique. Powder flows nicely through the measure only sub 3gr drops cause hang ups on my Uniflow. I had a pound of HS6 that I couldn't remember...

What is your favorite/"best" powder for 40 SW?

I use 6.0-6.2grs of Power Pistol with CCI primer and 170gr SWC from Missouri Bullet in my H&K USPc. It has polygonal rifling but I have not had any issues, I do clean my gun after every range session. This load is well within safe load range according to the 49th Lyman Reloading Manual. It...

    Optimum Barrel Cool-Down Time

I was at my ole Man's range and was watching a high power competitor shoot reduced targets with an M1 or M1A. After a string he had a 12v blower hooked up to a battery with hose that he could stuff into the open action to cool it down. The unit had it's own homemade box with handle, he had put...

    .45 ACP revolvers

I have a S&W 625, you use either half or full moon clips. I prefer Rimz clips, they're a plastic of some sort. Compared to traditional metal clips they work wonders, no tool needed to remove the spent cases and not to expensive from Brownells. My 1911 got parked, the 625 is the go to .45 with...

    Did you ever just QUIT?

I will occassionly keep nice targets to show my ole man. He competed in Bullseye competitions when I was a kid, he shot well not great but he can still embrass me on the firing line with the right gun. His eyes aren't as good as they once were, but I'm still competing the phantom of years...
