How long is too long for a .308 Win barrel?

I'm getting real close to buying a .308 Win rifle with a 24" 1:11 twist barrel, is 24" wasted on, or even detrimental to the .308 Win cartridge? Thanks

    In trouble again; beKorth

Why I went into this gun store today is beyond me, not like there was free pizza and beer or anything lthat would normally be an attractant, but there I am. Under glass were 3 Korth revolvers. After handling all of them, the 4" barrel gun felt the best balanced to me. So, nice gun, $4000. I...

Aero AR10 upper receiver lapping question

I started work on a new AR10 build and decided to try my hand at lapping the upper receiver to ensure a real square and clean barrel fit. I'm using the Wheeler Engineering kit. I did feel a tiny bit of slop with the tool in the receiver, used one layer of Scotch tape at each end which has taken...

Guidance needed concerning "lawful outdoor recreational activity"

Washington State legislature has a bill introduced which concerns assault weapons and high capacity magazines. My question relates to such weapons and magazines possessed prior to the presumed passage of this mess into law. Where do I go to find out what a "lawful outdoor recreational activity"...

AR10 6.5 Creedmoor build, need some help

I'm more of a bolt-action rifle shooter but with changes coming to WA wherein any semi-auto rifle purchased after July 1 2019 will be an "assault" rifle, I figured I'd build a grandfathered AR10 gas gun this spring. I've already bought an Aero Precision M5 stripped lower and upper, and an Aero...

    Glock trigger upgrade recommendation

I've got a Glock 21 Gen 3 45 ACP on which I recently added a red dot sight, my eyesight just isn't what it used to be :( Anyway, I'd like to improve the trigger pull over the stock Glock. This is a range toy for me so I'm not overly concerned about lightening up on the pull weight, within the...

Indoor range 38 spc fodder question

Looking to stock up on range fodder for our 38 special wheel guns. It seems as if non-jacketed ammo is cheaper than jacketed, is there a reason to pay more for jacketed? The range we shoot at allows both. We shoot modern revolvers like S&Ws and Rugers. Thanks.

    Smith & Wesson 296 thoughts

I found a local S&W 296 44 Special Airweight revolver I'm interested in. Anyone here have one or any experience with the 296? Thinking it would make a good BUG for my 69 :)

X5 days of Christmas in August share

After what seemed like an eternity I got my Sig X5 back from Gray Guns today. These stock X5s may have extraction issues that are not easy to fix. Everything pointed to Gray Guns in Spray, OR as having the only true fix for this. In any event, this X5 had the extraction problem. The other...

    S&W 332ti thoughts

Here I was minding my own business, not hanging out on gun for sale websites, never going to gun stores or pawn shops, OK those are all lies. I came across a very nice 332ti chambered for .32 h&r mag, these may or may not be rare but they sure are hard to come by, I have a proclivity for these...

    Ruger SP101 3" 327 Federal thoughts

I've come across a Ruger SP101 3", ,327 Federal I think I'd like to have. Have to say my last experience with .327 Federal was a ported S&W model which was a shooting disaster; that one went down the road fast. I think the porting was what I liked least about the S&W. I'd play again in the .327...

S&W 15-2 got new Altamont Coke Bottle grips

Really wanted grips with a tad more meat on them than original service grips. These seem to fit the bill nicely, nice enough for a quick share :)

Another grail revolver found, time to share the joy

Years ago bought a S&W model 15 which was a shooter, it had seen better days. I sold it knowing that someday I wanted a more collector specimen. Well, two weeks a ago I ran across one that looked as if it would be just the ticket, only problem being the seller and I live 3 hours apart. Knowing...

Marmots, 17 HMR, 50 yards, ethical?

I'm going to meet up with a bud who needs marmot control on his property, was planning to bring my tack driving 17 HMR rifle with 17 gr Hornady V-Max. He says these will mostly be shot at 50 yards or so. I've never shot a critter with this caliber or rifle, pest or otherwise, I don't want to...

What is this? Marsh barrel tuner

I got an email promotion offer from Bruno's today, can't find anything about what it is, how it works etc. Just says it's a barrel tuner, and it's on sale. http://www.brunoshooters.com/product/8642.html Anyone know more about this?

    Sig West German X5 extractors

My most accurate handgun by a wide margin is a Sig X5, a West German made older one which I paid dearly for and never regretted it. But, some of these, including mine have flaky extractors which may result in stovepipes. Gray Guns in Spray, OR offer the only real fix for these guns, and it's not...

Nice tool to have when it comes to Leupold windage screws

Having seen enough buggered windage screws on Leupold bases, I looked for a better way to make adjustments and ran across this cool tool on eBay. Yeah, it's $20 but no more ugly screw heads :) I have no affiliation with this outfit other than as a satisfied customer.

Sightron S-TAC problem, need help here

I bought a brand new S-TAC 4-20x50 which I mounted on a Cooper 21 300BLK rifle, Warne two-piece base with Leupold 30mm rings. On sight-in with factory ammo I could only get 1" left of the bullseye when I ran out of scope adjustment, at 25 yards. Packed it up and shot a different rifle. Back...

BlackRock Plans to Block Walmart, Dick’s From Some Funds Over Guns

Saw this in the Wall Street Journal today, I don't subscribe so I can't read the entire article. The gist of it is certain exchange-traded mutual funds run by Blackrock are very selective about what types of businesses they'll invest in, they purport to have a "social conscience" of sorts. I...

Why not a Marlin 308 Express?

I'm a sucker for a stainless Marlin lever rille; lets see, 2 in 357 mag, 1 in 35 Remington, 1 in 45/70 Govt. A very, very nice one just showed up locally in 308 Marlin Express. Avoid or nibble?
