...and once again I am the devil's advocate!
In 97 percent of the semi auto pistol videos on youtube I watch an disproportionate amount of time is spent talking about the texture, the undercut, the stippling. As if that will make you survive an actual gunfight. So I am talking about combat...
For what its worth, take a look at my Glock 19X groups.
Left side is with a drop in Stormlake, right side is stock Glock.
Ammo in both cases plain Federal 115 grain. Distance 10 yards.
Gun was rested on a small sandbag.
Disregard the flyer with each target. The Stormlake target got 6 shots as I...
I like the gun. It's also much more accurate than me. Just wondering if I could have had more bang for the buck getting a Shadow 2 with a trigger job and match barrel?
Well, this shotgun is bargain for a corrosion resistant pump at just around $200 so I am not expecting a Benelli. At 2 range visits so far I noticed that some shells (various brands) tend to stick after being fired and need a forceful pull to be ejected. Is this normal with this gun and does it...
I am interested in getting one big single stage press. I have a bunch of Lee stuff incl. dies, safety prime, shell holders.
While I like the idea of the Rock Chucker, can I use the Lee supplies or would I have to get everything (besides the dies) new?
The Lee classic press would be the...
Not a serious post, duh.
Everywhere I now hear people saying they just picked up this or that gun. I wish I could just pick up guns around town and not pay for them. What am I doing wrong?
There are loads on the official Hodgdon website (by the way, if anybody from their IT dept is reading this, fix the site it so that Safari and Firefox works) for calibers from 308 to 300 Winmag for all kinds of bullet weights. How can that actually be, either a powder is slow, middle or fast and...
For $299 this scope is really pretty amazing. Just wondering what would be considered a step up...with fixed optics? Maybe something with a 35mm tube? Really don't need more magnification.
The other day I had some money burning a hole in my pocket as I went to my favorite gun store looking for a new rifle. While I originally looked for something chambered in 6.5 Creedmore I was told that its near impossible to find anything in that caliber at the moment. However, the sales guy...
I have a Remington SS bolt action (forgot the model) in 300 winmag with a decent scope. Like to do some longer distance target shooting once in a while. Just for fun, no competitions. Saw a few videos on the Savage 11 Trophy Hunter in 7mm rem mag which seems to be a great gun for a great...
Just to do something a little different today at the range I brought along a piece of lumber I had in the cellar to see the effect of some factory and cast bullets on plain old wood. Not really a penetration test, just kinda comparing exit holes.
The big surprise was that a 9mm Glaser personal...
The other day I had a squib in a Ruger Blackhawk. Luckily the bullet fully exited the cylinder so disassembling was not a problem. But what if the bullet is halfway in the chamber and halfway still in the cylinder and you just can't get the gun apart?
What can I say, I just love big hunks of stainless steel :)
I already have several nice wheel guns in 357, 454, 460 and 500 but more is the enemy of some...
For me alox tumble lubed bullets work just fine but after watching a couple videos on powder
coated bullets I got curious. Not not want to pollute my toaster oven or buy another one just for bullets. So I came up with this approach. Plastic container with the powder and a couple pieces of...
I just started casting my own bullets. Did not have size any caliber so far but at the range some of my S&W 500 Magnum rounds would not chamber. So I am ordering a Lee sizer but my question is, do I have to take the rounds apart to size those bullets or can I push the entire round through the...
I just started casting so I would say I am a newbie in that department. The first ingots I got were cleaned and fluxed range lead. I am guessing that that lead might be in the 12 Brinell area. The bullets coming out of my Lee molds are quenched in ice water. Now the surprise is that I can't make...
This is a real nifty device. With some practice it is pretty accurate too. Believe it or not, there are countries in Europe where certain types of Slingshots are illegal! Sure glad I live here. Best is 99 percent of people will never figure out what this actually is.
Pocket Shot...
Just curious if somebody here has tried using the more coarse FFg instead of FFFg in something like 45 Colt?
I would assume if anything that you get less pressure but I might be wrong....
Was just looking over a couple videos showing guys making caps out of beer cans and pie tins.
My gut feeling tells me there could/should be a way to make them out of paper somehow... probably with a tiny bit of FFFFg powder. Anybody have success with this approach?
