Although a little pricey you might check out http://zombietools.net/tools/
they have some cool blades in various sizes. On a cheaper note is the Boomslang from Condor Knife and Tool http://www.knifecenter.com/item/CN24411HCM/condor-tool-
For local training you might look for any schools teaching Arnis,Kali,
Pentjak-Silat or Jeet Kune Do.The Filipino Martial Arts are especially strong
in knife skills.
I would go with the Stinger as it is low key and practically invisible in your
hand until you hit your opponent. You can search Youtube for some videos
on it to get an idea of it's effectiveness.
I have several swords in my collection and while I doubt I will have the chance to sever any Zombie heads with them it is nice to have that option.
Seriously though,I caught the sword bug from an early age and never lost it.
Given their physical limitations and that they already have an alarm system perhaps the money used to buy a gun would be better spent hardening their home against entry. The harder/longer it takes anyone to get in the better chance of police or neighbors arriving to help.Even a bunch of motion...
I've met more than a few people who seem too stupid to have kids but do...seems to me that is far more dangerous to the "general good" of society than an idiot with a gun.The problem is still the same: who decides who should have kids? what is the test?
In order to enjoy the freedom to do our...
Oldbear-
I was mostly joking about the one person in the store who feels the need for sunglasses while looking at a computer. But it seems to me that having an armed citizen nearby is a good thing in any case.
The options are almost limitless and do very much depend on your skills, personality and how you intend to carry the knife.Try checking out Tactical Knives magazine and looking on Youtube for videos from Michael Janich and Paladin Press, should give you some ideas. You might also want to Google...
If you really want a cheap or semi-cheap knife why not go for Spyderco's "Byrd" line or some of the CRKT knives? though made in Taiwan you at least get better steels and a little more quality control.
I got a set for my Ruger SP101 but ended up swapping them out for a Hogue Monogrip. They were just too small and didn't give me the "grip" that I needed to shoot comfortably.I suggest you try to find a friend who has them on his gun or a gun store selling a gun with them already installed in...
I ended up putting the Hogue Monogrip on my SP101 and am much happier now,the original (and a crimson tracer set I tried) were too small.I would definitely give them a try and they won't break the wallet either.
I have an ASP baton and feel it would get the job done if I had to use it.Like any other weapon it does some things but not all, that's why we have layered defenses. In addition to ASP check out Monadnock batons which have the benefit of locking open.
I like to have a gun in each room I am going to be in simply because you never know where in the house you will be if something requiring you be armed were to happen.I know I would really hate to be standing in say,the kitchen, and need the gun that is in the bedroom.
I think it is summed up...
I have not ordered from Knife Depot but have had good experiences with
Knife Center of the Internet,Adams International Knifeworks,888Knives and
Atlanta Cutlery.I especially recommend Knife Center, not always the cheapest but great customer service.
Although not the specific answer you're looking for,you may want to consider an ASP or Monadnock collapsible baton,it can be used as a fist load with the added option of a stick length piece of steel if needed.Although this does fall into the "carrying for self defense" category versus "I just...
