    Suggestions for bullet pulling

I found a rubber mallet is great for whacking the impact puller against. No more pounding on a 2x4 on the garage floor.

    extracting primer, reuse

Pull the bullets and sell the primed brass. It seems like a lot of trouble to save $15 in primers.

One reason for squib loads on a AP press.

IMHO you need to get into the habit of looking in to EVERY case before seating a bullet.

    .45 Rainier 200 gr SWC

I am amazed at the differences in reloading data from various sources. I also tabulate and compare the load data but take a more conservative approach when selecting the starting load and working up. I would not select a starting load which is a full grain over the max load of one of the...

Do you need to bell case mouths on handguns

Welcome to the forum. You may not have realized your post ended up in the Handloading and Reloading section and is not related to the topic being discussed. If you try creating a new topic in the appropriate forum you may get a better response to your question on what your rifle is worth. I...

How Hot & Light is too much in S&W Revolvers?

Agree with CZ57. The Model 19 is a K-frame S&W. Due to the frame being smaller, the forcing cone has a relief cut in it. A Google search for the model 19 and cracked forcing cone will get you heated opinions. If it were my gun I would stick with a heavier buller for full-load .357 Magnum...

Can NJ resident carry loaded handgun in front or back yard?

Of course if you are seen mowing the lawn with a loaded AR-15 you will be arrested. It will be then up to you to prove to the judge you were within the law. Keep it concealed if you feel like exercising your rights. Anything else may be considered brandshing. Jersey gun laws are bass akward...

I am adding the lesson learned about weighing a bullet from the box to my reloading procedures.

Case dents: How much is too much?

That mark on the case head is from machining marks on the breech face of the pistol that fired it. My S&W 1911 had a slight step which left similar marks on the brass.

    My first squib

The batch load process is easier with two loading blocks. One is full the other is empty. Perform a step and move the case from one block to the other.

How About This Old School Bullet?

Help me understand how a light load could cause the jacket to remain in the barrel. Is this due to the copper jacket not covering the base of the bullet while the gas pushes on the core through the base? It should not be a problem if the copper jacket fully covers the base of the bullet.

    Bang

Review of NRA Gun Safety Rules 1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. 2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. 3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use. It appears you violated Rule 3 if you loaded the round in the comfort of your home. There is...

.45 ACP reloads, what am I doing wrong?

Double check your dimensions. Where exactly did you measure 0.451? Lead bullets are 0.452 typically although some are 0.451. Copper jacketed are typically 0.451. I checked a dummy round loaded with 0.451 plated bullet which has been thorough a Lee factory crimp die. It measures 0.471 on...

I'm looking at turret presses...Have questions

I don't see the point in a manually indexing turret press. There seems to be too much going on by keeping a case in the press and manually advancing the dies. For batch processing all cases through one stage at a time, you might as well stick with a single stage press fitted with a Lock-N-Load...

I would like to start reloading for .357

Be prepared to spend more money than you think. I am still loading on a Lee Hand Press Kit. Initial outlay was $70 including a set of 45 ACP dies. I keep a spreadsheet with all firearm expenses. My current total in reloading tools is $360. I collected items for a few months before I...

    Lee carbide resizing die scratching

Wet/dry paper is a versatile tool if you lay it on a piece of thick glass plate or block of metal. I used it to fit a rear sight in this manner since I did not have a good set of stones or fine file handy.

New to reloading, got a Dillon 550 today

I came across this video yesterday. There are multiple parts to it. I reload using a hand press but thought it was interesting that you can operate the 550 like a turret press loading one round at a time, except the shell plate moves instead of a turret. It will take four cranks for each round...
