Early Blackhawk Flattop in 44 mag

Thanks everyone for chiming in. I think she'll be happy with the $800 - $1200 estimate.

Early Blackhawk Flattop in 44 mag

A friend/coworker of mine is moving her father into memory care, and she asked me to help her sell a few of her father’s guns. Most aren’t anything to write home about, but one is interesting. It appears to be a very early Blackhawk flattop in 44 mag and I was wondering if some of the resident...

    Show off your Scout Rifle

That's awesome, and solves the one thing I didn't like about this setup. Thanks for pointing that out.

    Show off your Scout Rifle

Two Ruger GSR’s; one in .308, one in 5.56. Both with Leupold VX-2 2-7x33 and XS SIGHTS ghost ring sights. The stock sights are better, but these aren’t bad. Slings are from Magpul. I have a scout style scope but after trying it, I'm not fan.

    Böker Customer Service

I bought my son a Böker Plus Balisong Trainer for Christmas. Within a few weeks one of the screws that goes between the handle and the pivot point on the blade came loose and was lost. Some quick reading found this was common and solvable with a little Loctite. No problem, I’ll just buy some new...

Why all the ultra short AR barrels?

What I don’t understand is, if you’re going to get a suppressor for your AR pistol, why not get the stamp for an SBR too? I know little about NFA rules, but I’d rather have a real stock personally and the extra stamp wouldn’t dissuade me once I’d committed to the one for the suppressor. My...

Compound bow selection on a beginner's budget

I keep thinking I want a compound and then get bored just researching them. I like my recurves. I have two Samick Sages (one for fishing) and had a nice older Bear (bought used) that failed on me. My fault; do not use fast flight strings on an older bow. For entry level, the Sage is pretty...

    Four (4) gun only battery

Benelli Vinci 12ga – for clays and pheasants AR15 – because I learned to shoot on an A2, and AR’s still feel “right” Ruger SR9c – For SD/HD/CC Ruger 10/22 – because I like mine I could trade the Vinci for a Supernova. The 10/22 for a Ruger American. The SR9c for a 1911.

Shotgun for 12 year old girl

I bought a Weatherby SA-08 youth stock 20ga for my son (12) this past summer. He’s shooting it well and without complaining about the recoil. I think the most he’s done in one session was 75, but it didn’t bother him. The bolt is stiff and needs some breaking in. It’s gritty for lack of a...

XR3 grip frame for Single Six

Thanks, LoonWulf. I appreciate the generosity, but I believe the Single Six already has the XR3-Red. I ordered a set of the Altamont thin grips and we’ll see how close they are to the flat top grips.

XR3 grip frame for Single Six

Perfect. That's what I needed. I'll start with the thinner panels and go from there. Thanks.

XR3 grip frame for Single Six

I have one of the new Lipsey’s Ruger Blackhawk Flattop models and a Single Six. The Blackhawk has a much thinner grip than the Single Six and after living with them for a while, I like them better. This is apparently the XR3 grip frame. Does anyone know if they make the same grip frame for the...

    Camping tips

I use the Reserve America and recreation.gov websites a lot. They’ll list all kinds of campgrounds within driving distance you had no idea existed. I found some gems that way. At the campground, neighbors will tell you about more. Every year I find a couple of new spots to check out...

    What happened to caseless ammunition?

I’ve heard heat is an issue as well. The case removes heat from the firearm when it is ejected. Not so with caseless.

    Flipper arrow rest and plunger

Bare bow. I've tried compounds with sights at Cabela's, and was very accurate with them, but I haven't tried one on my recurves yet.

    Flipper arrow rest and plunger

I ended up trying a NAP Flipper II just to see what kind of difference it made. Low cost experiment kinda thing – and it was available at Sportsman’s Warehouse. It made a huge difference and I was able to get the Samick tuned easily. It worked so well I put one on my Bear Super Kodiak and got it...

    Questioning the Scout Rifle concept.

I was able to mount a Leupold VX2 2-7x33 on quick release low rings with the XS rail. I tried, and did not like, a forward mounted scope. I like my Ruger GSR. Iron sights. CRF. Detachable mags (3 round flush, 5 or 10). Adjustable stock. Already threaded if I ever get a suppressor. Lots to like.

    Flipper arrow rest and plunger

I bought a Samick Sage recurve a couple of years ago and have been using it for bow fishing, shooting soda cans with flu-flu’s and back yard field point shooting at my target. Now after thousands of shots I bought a bare shaft test kit, a range of field point weights and I am trying to tune it...

When you want all the guns, but can only afford one . . .

In that case, definitely a handgun for me. I might even try handgun and 22lr rifle if I could find two I liked within the $800 budget.
