    Don Hume H721 OT

I have 721OT holsters for my XD and SP101 and like them very well. Very comfortable and secure. Rides high and holds the gun securely. Another one you may want to consider is the H710. I've been using one of these lately for my XD45 and it has become my primary holster. Have another for...

    Colt New Agent 45 takedown

I use a thin aluminum open end wrench to take pressure off the recoil spring so I can get the slide stop back in. I put it on the end of the recoil spring, pointing up toward the front sight. Works great and falls out once you rack the slide. It's about 1/8" thick.

    Gun Belt review

Another Beltman Fan I have three from the Beltman. The first was a 1.25" bullhide with the internal stiffner. The second is a 1.25" horsehide. These two were actually purchased as dress belts and are worn with suits at least a couple of times a week. No one has ever suspected they are...

Highly biased wording in AOL poll on National Park Carry

Park Service spokesman David Barna clearly has no understanding of the mindset of Concealed Carry. Kind of like those college dormitories, they are completely safe. Oh wait . . . . .

    OWB Leather Holster Help

Of the three you mention, the Don Hume 721 OT is the only one I have used. I have three of them, two for my XDs and one for a Ruger SP 101. The one I carry my XD SC in is the most comfortable holster I have. I've tried a number of others, some as recent as today, and many that cost a lot...

    Don Hume JIT Slide

MCgunner - glad it worked ok for you. Lifting your arm up and exposing the barrel can be a problem, you just have to watch that movement I guess. I don't notice it as much since the barrel length I carry is 2" or so, but if it is an OWB holster, that will always be an issue under some...

Thinking about a new carry revolver

I'm getting into this discussion late - Chaim I'm glad to see you were able to find the revolver that you are happy with. I honestly had to read through the thread a couple of times - there are a lot of interesting and in depth comments. I'll comment on a couple of points, perhaps someone...

    Ruger SP101 357mag

Ha - I would never have thought about the sight melting, but that makes sense. I carry my SP 101 regularly, and with my bi focal glasses, plus my eyesight getting a little worse it really helps a lot.

Yes Cougfan2 I thought your pic resembled their work. I went with the red fiber optic.

Gemini Sights The only change I've made to my 2" SP 101 was the sights, but it was a big change for the better. http://www.geminicustoms.com/classified.htm

    Don Hume JIT Slide

I sometimes use a JIT for a Ruger SP 101 and an ultralite Taurus 851. Have a couple more for use with semi-autos as well. What I really like the JIT for is when I am driving. Very comfortable. It conceals ok with a flannel shirt or jacket over it. If you like the Don Hume line, and I...

    Built myself a brass catcher

Neat idea Wiry! I appreciate your ingenuity. If the net being too taut causes a problem - could you fashion a more solid back at the top, and angle it at about 45 degrees to direct the brass down? Picture the back of a pellet trap and you'll see what I mean. Something lightweight, even a...

    Bright Sights?

I've tried the Ghost Glow and the regular high vis paints from Bright Sights. I like the high vis type for a periodic touch up on my XDs. Can't really say that I liked the Ghost Glow that much. They do work somewhat as a night sight, but I didn't think they were that visible in low light...

    XD-45 Concealed Carry Holsters

Dee - I have the compact model of XD-45. I use a Don Hume 721 OT that I like very much. http://www.donhume.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_5&products_id=44 http://www.pistolgear.com/products.php?id=7 I have the same model holster for other 40 caliber XDs and small...

    Pistol Rack

Dove - Not fancy for sure, but very functional. This is a second one I'm working on, but you'll get the idea. I had a couple of small dowels break off on one end of this one that I tried to use for .22s, and they were just too fragile. I still have some room left on this one too. These...

What's your favorite leather gun belt?

I just received my first belt from the Belt Man. I ordered the 1 1/4" dual layer bullhide belt with the internal stiffner, black in color with brass buckle. I wanted it mainly for when I was wearing a suit, I wanted a belt that looked good enough for dress wear, but was strong enough to...

    Pistol Rack

I have a similar setup in my safe, but I built mine a little differently. I used a piece of 1x6 and the 6" side is flat against the back of the safe on the top shelf. The dowels were installed at such an angle so when the revolver or pistol is placed on the dowel the bottom of the grip rests...
