What .44 Magnum is the most fun?

Astra Terminator. 4" barrel? check. Affordable? check. Optional nickel finish? check - Inox. Grip options galore? check. Availability? che...nope.

For what it's worth, this code also works for their partner site www.freedommunitions.com. Some decent deals on reman ammo to be had.

    Sig SP2022

If it's any additional water in the bucket, the 2022 in .40 doesn't "snap" like other .40s I've shot (in my opinion). I've loved mine since the day I laid eyes on her in the case at the shop. One thing to note - beware of IWB without an undershirt. The stippling on the grip can rub your side...

hand loading_is it just a man thing

I taught my wife to reload .38 Special as an excuse to spend more time with her. I think she enjoys it more than I do.

    Contamined My Stash

Thanks all for the helpful hints. I played it safe and bought a puller and spent the last two weeks pulling around 500 rounds. My wife is glad I'm finally done (impact puller). While separating components, I couldn't help but notice that two types of powder emerged. I must have mixed in some...

    .303 British ammo

And here I was thinking it was the same reason .38 Special comes in boxes of 50 (for a typical 6-shot gun) and hot dogs come in packages of 10 while buns come in packs of 8. Thanks, wojownik, for putting some sense in the world.

Do reloaders tend to have analagous hobbies?

Same here. Not sure which costs me more on the average, a year of reloading or a year of tinkering in the shack.

    reloading .32 acp

Sounds like you've got an HSC. I'd stick to the 71grn standard...100grn sounds rough and might be difficult to measure the charge consistently accurately.

"What Gun Were You The Most Disappointed With?" Redux

This came up in discussion recently, but the Sig P6 is everything I love in a gun along with everything I hate. It was so close to being something stellar. Great ergonomics, good (enough) trigger, good (enough) sights, good chambering, terrible capacity, terrible inability to feed JHPs, and...

Kicking and screaming into the 21st century

“The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.” ― Albert Einstein Good on you for trying something new. And just because you switched to the autos does not mean you can't still love your wheelguns. I imagine the same can apply to C&R guns. Great to own and shoot, but not...

    Contamined My Stash

Not a bad idea, thanks. I was going to use a dab of nail polish on everything I saw on the top layer, but I think I like the ink idea better. While I sit and weep over my sins, I wondered if a radiologist might be able to detect the levels of powder within the case to determine the culprits...

    Contamined My Stash

Thanks all, lots of sound advice. Sometimes the best solution is the most difficult to hear. On that note, anyone know a good collet puller for a Lee hand loader? FWIW, my scale is a Frankford Arsenal digital scale. Small thing, really, but seems to have been accurate and consistent up to...

    Contamined My Stash

I thought so too, but my scale says differently. When I charge a case using the perceived 10.4 gr charge, I still see ~.25" of case volume left. I'm seating for OAL of 1.125. I'm starting to wonder if my scale is just junky, but I don't have a 2nd to (dis)qualify it yet.

    Contamined My Stash

No flame perceived. I wish I knew what caused the potential overcharge. All I know is that my scale was set to 6.4 when I loaded 40 rounds and remained at 6.4 as I checked every 8th round. I went in later to start another batch and the scale was at 10.4...nothing moved. FWIW, I'm loading...

    Contamined My Stash

Normally, I'd pull them in a heartbeat and restart the batch. The problem is that the batch is sitting on top of a pile of nearly 2,000 other rounds. Luckily, I know the pile has not moved since I dumped them on top, however, if I forget so much as 1 round...I could lose my gun. On the...

    Contamined My Stash

The scale and the powder measure did not move - they were in a sealed room. Additionally, I checked several throws and the scale itself to be sure I was not working with dead batteries or a coincidental overcharge. I do seem to remember thinking that the charge in the case came somewhat...

    Contamined My Stash

Allow me to begin by stating that I make ammo for two different purposes: match and plinking. My match ammo is made extremely carefully and slowly and is as painstakingly loaded as some of my rifle ammo. Every box is labeled, dated, and then marked after use for its performance of that load...

    Buds 180 days to pay

Lots of holier-than-thou in this thread. If I choose to make a purchase over the course of several months piece by piece, why is it a bad choice? It is no different than boxing up the money and paying later except that I have essentially called "dibs" on that firearm at that time. I will...

Thanks to Ex and an overall good Sunday

Perhaps my pessimism, but I read it as ecstasy (along the same lines as above). So glad to hear it was something else. Agree on networking outside the forum, nothing spreads the hobby like shared enthusiasm in the presence of like-minded.
